Nine miles north of Denver, the city of Northglenn was originally a master-planned community built in the late 1950s with lots of open space for parks. By 1962, it had 10,000 residents. In the past two decades, development has added newer housing, and with easy access to employers in Denver and Boulder, homes are in high demand. Northglenn's population now exceeds 38,000, and special events and recreational opportunities draw people together. “Northglenn is a great little community; it’s smaller and a bit older with a great price of entry for buyers,” says Realtor Ann Wymore, owner of North Star Team with nine years of experience in Colorado real estate. “It’s a mixture of people who have been here for a long time and new people moving in, so it’s very welcoming and warm.”
Those who work in Northglenn often find jobs in healthcare, retail and construction, but commuting to Denver or Boulder is common. Denver’s biggest employers are the Denver International Airport and Lockheed Martin, while the University of Colorado Boulder is that city’s biggest employer.

Northglenn Recreation Center and public parks
Lots of sunshine and low humidity make the summer comfortable for hiking, biking and playing in the parks, while cold, snowy winters make Northglenn’s newly renovated recreation center a big draw. The center has an indoor lap pool with a new Ninja-style obstacle course, as well as a gym, indoor playground and fitness center. The warmer months bring baseball players and dog-walkers to Northwest Open Space. E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park’s 28 acres includes playgrounds and picnic tables, and Webster Lake centers the park, where kayakers glide among the wild geese. Throughout the year, the community gathers at Boondocks Food & Fun for birthday celebrations and amusement park attractions. Bowlers hit the lanes, while adventure seekers race Go-Karts and climb the ropes course.
