Peaceful suburban living in a Norwood neighborhood
In 1697, Norwood’s first settlers were attracted to North Norwood’s vast marshland, and even to this day the area still embraces its natural elements. The Boston suburb is dotted with acres of conservation land with gravel hiking routes, towering white pine trees and flowing brooks. Despite its forested features, the region is anything but secluded. “This area is right between the town of Westwood and downtown Northwood, and residents tend to visit those places interchangeably,” says Anne Fahy, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Realty who has sold many homes in the area. “This location is nice because houses in Westwood are usually a bit pricier than Norwood.”

Many home options in North Norwood
Many single-family homes in North Norwood sell between $450,000 and $750,000, and common housing styles include Cape Cods, Colonial Revivals and raised ranches. “Most of the homes in this part of Norwood were built in the 1950s,” says Fahy. “A lot of people are updating the insides of the houses, but they’re maintaining the area's original charm by keeping the outsides the same.” Slightly larger houses, around 2,000 to 2,500 square feet, can go from $800,000 to $1 million. Estate properties from 3,000 to over 5,000 square feet start at $1 million and can go over $3 million. Many of the larger houses have lots that are over 1 acre with outdoor decks and pools. The area’s hilly roads are often tree lined with sidewalks, and yards are well maintained with curb appeal. Homebuyers interested in purchasing multi-family homes, where they can occupy one unit or level and rent out the rest, can expect to find them for $800,000 to $1 million. Townhouses from the 1960s to the 1980s are around $450,000, and newly developed properties can reach $1.5 million. One to two-bedroom condos are usually between $250,000 and $450,000, and several large condominiums in private or golf course communities can fetch around $1 million.

Town-wide celebrations in Norwood
Norwood has many community events that take place throughout the year. The town square is transformed into a winter wonderland for the annual Holiday Extravaganza. Residents gather the Sunday after Thanksgiving for horse-drawn hayrides, local choir performances and the Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Navigating into Boston and Cambridge
North Norwood is about 3 miles from Interstate 95, and a 27-mile drive north on the thoroughfare leads to Boston’s downtown. Commuters can go to the Norwood Depot train station, which is less than 1 mile away, and take the Franklin/Foxboro Line for direct access to Boston’s South Station. Although located right next to the neighborhood, the Norwood Memorial Airport is not certified for commercial flights, so most people go to the Boston Logan International Airport for flights to other U.S. cities. The community is car-dependent, and Norwood Hospital is conveniently located in the town center.
