Sherrard schools prepare students for careers
Students in Oak Grove might attend Sherrard Elementary School, Matherville Intermediate School, Sherrard Junior High School and Sherrard High School. Matherville Intermediate School is rated a B-minus by Niche, the high school gets a B rating, and the elementary and junior high schools are each rated a B-plus. Sherrard High School serves approximately 430 students with a student-teacher ratio of 12-to-1. Students can enroll in the tech prep program, which allows the school to offer nine degrees through a partnership with Black Hawk Community College. Vocational courses at the high school include family and consumer sciences and agriculture. Sherrard High has won three state championships in chess and one in girls’ track and field.

Highway 67 runs north to south through the middle of Oak Grove, giving residents a route north to the Quad Cities. The Lodge is a heated indoor building that can accommodate 30 people for private events. Residents can join the Pinnacle Country Club and enjoy a challenging, scenic course. The par-72 course features tree-lined fairways and rolling hills throughout all 18 holes.
