Dutch Valley's simple lifestyle but nuclear history
Dutch Valley sits roughly 8 miles north of Oak Ridge, the city that assisted in building the atomic bomb and that played a role in the blockbuster “Oppenheimer” movie. History aside, this rural community features a unique balance of seclusion and connection. It stretches towards Interstate 75, putting downtown Knoxville about 25 miles away. Residents prefer this type of simplicity, and a slower pace of life is predominant here.
Fixer uppers and move-in ready options
Home prices can vary from the upper $200,000s to the upper $600,000s. The reason for this large span in prices is because the early end of the spectrum can be fixer upper properties. A prewar two-bedroom bungalow on four acres of land, for example, can go for $278,000. But there’s also relatively newer construction in Dutch Valley that’s move-in ready. Look for three-bedroom Colonials built in the late 90s, with modern finishes like a charcoal color palette, covered front porch and well-kept ornamental landscaping.
You can find an occasional Modern Colonial in Dutch Valley.
