Eastmont
Eastmont’s cozy, eclectic bungalows
Stucco facades, red-tiled rooftops, arches and so much more are just a handful of unique designs Eastmont homes have. No two homes are the same in this neighborhood, but there are two predominant architectural styles: Craftsman and Spanish Revival. Houses typically have 2 to 3 bedrooms and 1 to 2 bathrooms, around 1,180 square feet. The median lot size is less than a tenth of an acre, so small fenced-in yards are common. Street parking is also common. “Eastmont has many of the same benefits as Eastmont Hills,” says Matthew Sewell, a local Realtor with eXp Realty of California and his own company, My Real Estate Plug. “It’s in between major roads and good for commuting, but it has a much lower price point. The average home value in Oakland is in the mid-$700,000s.” Eastmont’s homes were built in the 1920s and ‘30s; their age keeps prices comparably low. Overall list prices range from $426,000 to $767,000.

Home of the Knights, this high school has plenty of athletic offerings students can enrich their school days with, such as tennis, flag football, soccer, basketball and swimming. Not far from Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park
While there are no parks in Eastmont proper, there are a couple of options for recreation within a mile. Due east, King Estate Open Space Park is home to trails that slope and climb scenic hills. Due west, Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center sits on a couple of acres of green space with athletic courts, a ballfield and a playground. Although currently closed, Liberation Park is a popular community space just north of Eastmont. Plans are in the works to transform the park into a mixed-use affordable housing complex with local food vendors, farm stands, a co-working space and a community food pantry.Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park, a sprawling 1,833-acre forest of towering Redwood trees, isn’t far either. Its hiking trails and iconic sights are only about a 5-mile drive north of the neighborhood. The Oakland Zoo is close by, too, just under 2 miles away.
