Diverse community by green spaces and International Boulevard
Three miles from downtown Oakland is Oak Tree. Filled with office spaces, restaurants and housing, this densely populated area is also near green spaces, schools and the San Francisco Bay. “It’s a nice place to live, very convenient and more affordable than some surrounding neighborhoods. It’s near a BART station, and International Boulevard is very vibrant during the day,” says Zanna Knight, a Realtor with Compass with nearly two decades of experience. Named after the Oak Tree Farm, which once stood here, the established community fell on hard times during a period of urban renewal in the 1960s and ‘70s. It’s been revitalizing over the last decade, thanks to the help of numerous organizations like the Native American Health Center, a wellness clinic that’s been serving all community members since 1972.
