Upper Rockridge
Modern, traditional and Spanish-style homes overlooking the Bay
Though the neighborhood has a relatively uniform landscape of single-family homes with lush lawns lining winding streets up a hillside, architectural styles vary. “You’ve got homes that were built in the 30s, 40s and 50s. But the neighborhood was partially affected by the Oakland fire in the 1990s, so you also have some newer homes,” Cavallo-Merrion says. “I think that adds to the interest and appeal of the neighborhood.” It’s primarily single-family homes in a mix of modern and traditional styles, with a heavy Spanish architectural influence. With Upper Rockridge’s mountainside location, homes were designed to optimize views, often with large windows and balconies overlooking the Bay. Neighborhood streets are tight and winding, and though homes tend to take up most of their lots, their small lawns are meticulously landscaped and there are still plenty of towering trees. Prices typically fall between $1 million and $3 million, with a median list price of $1.6 million.Top-rated public and private schools
