Suburbia with a rural feel
Located between Cleveland and Akron, the Village of Oakwood is a family-focused community that combines suburban and rural characteristics. “Oakwood is actually a village with a small population and a rural feel,” says Michael Ferrante, Realtor with Century 21 Homestar. “One great thing about living here is that it is the perfect midway point between downtown Cleveland and Akron or anywhere in northeast Ohio.” This makes commuting convenient, putting shopping centers, attractions, and downtown destinations just a short drive away. It’s not all about convenience to the cities though. The main thoroughfare, Broadway Avenue, is home to big-box stores and hometown restaurants alike, while the Oakwood Community Center provides activities that families can enjoy.

Broadway Ave is a hub for shopping, dining options
Broadway Avenue offers a variety of fast-food options, discount stores, and big-box retailers like Sam’s Club, where many residents shop for groceries. “If you live in Oakwood, best believe you will grocery shop at Sam’s Club. It’s almost a main attraction because that is what most people do here,” says Andrea Wilson, a Realtor with BHR & Associates. Dolphin Restaurant, a family-owned establishment that has served the community for over 30 years, serves various dishes from breakfast crepes to veal cutlets. Mister T's Wonderfreeze, a cash-only walk-up ice cream parlor known for soft serve, sundaes, shakes, and hot dogs at reasonable prices, is temporarily closed.
Given the land many homeowners occupy, the neighborhood supports several local landscaping businesses. Petitti Garden Center has been providing high-quality plants since 1971. Oakwood Village Hardware & Supply focuses on indoor projects like plumbing and electrical work, while Woodcraft specializes in woodworking tools, supplies, books, and project plans.
