Quiet living in the town of Ocean Ridge
With the Intracoastal Waterway to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, it's no wonder anglers, boaters, surfers and swimmers enjoy quiet living in the town of Ocean Ridge. "It's nestled there between Palm Beach and Delray,” says Christian Prakas, broker and owner of Prakas Luxury Real Estate. "Small town vibe. You don't have the extra traffic that other towns have. People are driving into Ocean Ridge because they live there.” Whether watching the sunset or volunteering with beach cleanup, the sea breeze and the distant cries of gulls overhead never get old for Ocean Ridge residents.
A couple hundred yards from the water
Swaying palms, condos, lush hedges and townhomes line the main road, Ocean Boulevard. Single-family homes stem off this thoroughfare and display a variety of architectural styles. Ranch-style homes and sprawling Spanish revivals straddle contemporary and minimal traditional-styled homes. No two houses are alike in the town of Ocean Ridge. And, according to Prakas, no home in the town is more than a couple hundred yards from the ocean or the waterway. Condos can range in price from $300,000 to more than $1 million, though most single-family detached homes sell from $2 million to upwards of $12 million.

Easily walkable and scenic
Ocean Boulevard is lined by greenery and sidewalks, making the town easily walkable and scenic. Of course, with the inlet and ocean as a backyard, residents can boat or kayak wherever they need to go. Few roads connect Ocean Ridge to the mainland, though each one connects Ocean Boulevard to Route 1, the coastal highway taking residents north to West Palm Beach or south to Delray Beach. Palm Beach International Airport is less than 15 miles north via Interstate 95.

International Baccalaureate programs in Palm Beach County
Ocean Ridge students can attend the Palm Beach County School District. Forest Park Elementary School has a C-plus on Niche and provides an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program to academically challenge its students. Congress Middle School earns a C on Niche and offers five Choice academies ranging from Digital Graphic Design to Pre-Engineering. With a C-plus on Niche, Boynton Beach Community High School expands to 11 Choice academies, even offering Aerospace Science.
Paddling past the estruaries
Locals can push paddles into crystal blue water, passing estuaries into the Ocean Ridge Natural Area. Wildlife can be observed in Florida's native maritime hammock and mangrove swamp ecosystems. On the other side of the island, the white sands of Ocean Ridge beaches are rarely crowded. Anglers will be happy to hear that the waters off the shore are great for fishing. "There's tarpon, snook, jack and barracudas,” lists Captain Jim Chiarenza of 4 J's Fishing Charters. “During September and October, there's something called the mullet run where you'll run into big schools of fish off the bay." Fishing charters like Captain Jim's surround the area, allowing locals to try their hand at a new seaside hobby.

Waterfront eateries
"Ocean Ridge is very private, quiet and quaint. The town also keeps a tight grip on building standards, making sure there's no over-development," Prakas says. Commercial areas are located across the bridge in Boynton Beach, less than five miles away. Restaurants sit across the waterway in the Boynton Harbor Marina. Two Georges Waterfront Grille is a flavorful local fave. This seafood spot features live music, cocktails and great company. Residents might sip on a Two Georges Mojito while waiting on a fresh order of Florida Middleneck Clams. Publix and Boynton Grocer are just a few miles south.

A vibrant arts and recreation scene
Just seven miles north of Delray Beach, Ocean Ridge residents have plenty of events year-round to look forward to. From crafts to farmer’s markets to the annual Surf Festival, downtown Delray Beach has a vibrant arts and recreation scene. SunFest is an annual music festival held in West Palm Beach, 16 miles north. Hosted on the waterfront, the festival attracts thousands from across the state. Additionally, West Palm Beach is home to many annual art, seafood, wine and beer festivals.
