The quiet streets and cul-de-sacs of Rollingwood were established between 1940 and 1969 and sit just northwest of Oklahoma City. "Talk about character," says Anya Mashaney, Realtor, broker and co-owner of Spaces Real Estate and northwest central OKC resident. "Rollingwood has mature, tree-lined streets, and many homes have a distinct 60s midcentury flair. The neighborhood is witnessing a lot of renovation, but the area has been well maintained and loved over the years."
Midcentury homes in Rollingwood
While out on a walk, Rollingwood residents pass long concrete driveways, towering trees and neighbors working in their sheds out back. They may glimpse the pond that backs up to several streets or switch from walking at the edge of the road to the paved trail that borders sprawling Dolese Park. Ranch-style homes line the streets here—most retaining their original brick frames, others remodeled to midcentury modern sleekness, and still others with diamond-shaped windowpanes and steeply gabled roofs. Split-levels and the occasional Cape Cod are also thrown into the mix. Homes in Rollingwood range in price from $185,000 for a three-bedroom property that needs some renovations to $310,000 for a recently remodeled home of the same size.

Car and shuttle travel in Rollingwood
Most Rollingwood residents own cars to get around the other parts of OKC. Nearby US Route 3 and Interstate 44 take locals downtown in roughly 12 miles or to INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center in just 2.5 miles. Alternatively, EMBARK bus stops line Northwest 63rd Street; a shuttle takes riders from North Meridian Avenue to the medical center. For air travel, residents head 13 miles north to Will Rogers World Airport.
Connected through the Rollingwood Neighborhood Association
In 1979, the voluntary Rollingwood Neighborhood Association organized a group of neighbors to clear and beautify an abandoned lot in the northwest corner. The volunteers worked to turn the unsightly lot into a pocket park where neighbors could gather for picnics or neighborhood events. In the years since, the association has continued to serve its community through trash cleanups, garage sales, cookouts, book club meetings, and even a festive holiday event called Santa + Grinch, where neighbors gather to sip hot chocolate and have holiday portraits taken with their families, friends and pets.
Local fare and mall outings in Rollingwood
Penn Square Mall, an OKC retail classic, is just 5 miles from Rollingwood. At this popular OKC retail destination, visitors can shop or dine at more than 140 stores and restaurants, or if they fancy dinner and a movie, they can catch the latest blockbuster at the mall's AMC Theatre. With the completion of Oak, a new 20-acre mixed-use development project in the works, Rollingwood residents will have even more amenities nearby. For a bite to eat even closer to home, they can enjoy sizzling steak fajitas at family-owned Casa Perico Mexican Grille or a juicy Oklahoma delicacy at the restaurant Mashaney calls "the true classic," Bunny's Onion Burgers.
