A small community in western Omaha
Almost hidden off South 108th Street and Harrison Street, Applewood Heights is a small western Omaha neighborhood with a diverse home selection. The community has a small homeowners association that promotes community gatherings and is responsible for keeping the neighborhood beautiful. Applewood Heights is known for its outdoor lifestyle, with a park by the same name, a community pool and nearby golfing and trails. “People are really drawn to this area,” says Price Wilson, a Realtor on the Briley Team with Berkshire Hathaway Home Service Ambassador Real Estate, who grew up in Omaha. “As a kid, I remember going to Oak Heights Pool and Mama’s Pizza right after. It was great.”
The Applewood Heights neighborhood is located just a mile east of Interstate 80 and allows for easy access to the rest of Omaha.

Residents have options between multiple nearby shopping centers featuring a wide range of stores. The Applewood Center features a Hy-Vee, while the Empire Park Shopping Center offers a Family Fare for groceries. A little further from home, the L Street Marketplace has multiple big box stores, including Target, World Market, Walmart and Sam’s Club. Locals can find many fast food and chain restaurants nearby, but Mama’s Pizza has been serving homemade pies in the city since 1975 and has one of its three locations on South 96th Street.

Omaha Metro is the city bus line, and two bus routes serve the neighborhood. Locals can hop aboard the No. 97 Millard Express or the No. 55 Q Street lines to get around town. Applewood Heights is within 5 miles of Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 275 to get downtown and beyond. “You can get anywhere in the city in about 15 minutes from Applewood Heights,” Wilson says.

The Applewood Heights Neighborhood Association puts on multiple community events throughout the year. Its most significant event is the annual Fourth of July Parade and Picnic. The parade runs down 104th and Polk and ends at the park, where the picnic begins. Other events include the Easter Egg Hunt, block parties and socials.
