Given the number of amenities within minutes of suburban housing, it’s no secret why Prairie Village is one of the Omaha region’s hottest seller’s markets. Tucked between Interstates 80 and 680, this small community in West Omaha is close to a shopping center, as well as high quality schools and diverse parks scattered throughout the region. While nearby highway noise is something to consider when looking at this neighborhood, it nevertheless offers an intimate and safe environment for families looking to escape the bustle of the city after a long day.

Traditional single-family homes line the curvy streets of Prairie Village. Most homes in the neighborhood are ranch style or Colonials, while there is variation between single-story and multi-family dwellings. The median sale price in Prairie Village is $243,500.

Students in Prairie Village can attend public schools in the Westside Community School District throughout their time in education. Receiving an 8/10 on GreatSchools, Rockbrook Elementary School’s Bulldogs enjoy access to an elementary school within walking distance of home. As students grow older, they can attend Westside Middle School. Alternatively, Mary Our Queen School and Catholic Church is available for families interested in raising their elementary and middle school-aged children in a faith-based education structure. Regardless of where students start their education, Westside High School serves all students in the neighborhood.

In the next-door neighborhood of Prairie Lane, homeowners can easily visit Prairie Lane Park. Come out to the park to enjoy its expansive green lawn space or spar against a friend in a game of tennis. Additionally, the park’s onsite baseball diamond is a great spot to catch a local baseball league’s game or sharpen your own baseball skills. Residents may also choose to check out the Prairie Lane Pool to cool off in community during Omaha’s summer months. Alternatively, Brookside Park offers a playground and picnic pavilion for exploring and getting some time in the outdoors with younger residents. Additionally, Rockbrook Park offers its own baseball diamond and playground, as well as a walking trail circling its perimeter.

Homeowners in Prairie Village enjoy very close proximity to shopping with the Rockbrook Village shopping center located along the neighborhood’s northern border. At the Rockbrook Village, check out Pets R Us, Corkscrew Wine and Cheese and local gyms. For dinner, shoppers need not travel far. Sit down at one of Pulled BBQ Omaha’s wooden tables for a pulled pork sandwich alongside some creamy Mac and Cheese. Next door, Pasta Amore offers upscale Italian dishes in a fancy sit-down environment. For an alternative shopping option, Westwood Plaza shopping mall features a Dollar Tree, Burlington and a Baker’s grocery store to meet all of your everyday grocery shopping needs. Additionally, Westwood Plaza offers chain restaurants from Taco Bell and Starbucks to Arby’s and IHOP if you’d rather fill that hole in your stomach here.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
