Park Central
Suburban Neighborhood in Orlando, Florida
Orange County 32839
Condos and townhouses are the primary feature in Park Central
Most single-family homes in Park Central are ranch-style and feature three or four bedrooms. Some are turn-key, featuring new renovations, and some need TLC but sit on acres of land. Lot sizes are roomy, and houses are surrounded by tall trees that provide shade and privacy. Prices range from $220,000 to $580,000. There are also many condo options, primarily located in the middle of the neighborhood between Holden Avenue and Americana Boulevard, with prices ranging from $65,000 for a one-bedroom fixer-upper to just over $300,000 for a three-bedroom with recent renovations. These homes to purchase join the many retail properties throughout the area; about 75% of Park Central residents are renters. Regarding crime, the neighborhood scores a 9 out of 10 on the CAP Index, six points higher than the national average. This score is due to a high number of reported property and violent crimes.Get outdoors with neighborhood green spaces like Clear Lake Park
While there are no parks in the neighborhood, Clear Lake is located just north of the neighborhood, across Interstate 4. The 360-acre freshwater lake, just north of the neighborhood, is a popular spot to do a little fishing. Next door is Clear Lake Park, which offers traditional park amenities like jogging and biking trails and fitness stations where visitors exercise in the fresh air. There are also picnic tables and two playgrounds: a tot lot for kids two to five years old and another for older kids up to 12 years old. For indoor recreation, residents take exercise classes, swim or use the gym equipment at the South Orlando YMCA Family Center, located just east of the neighborhood along West Oak Ridge Road.Students get their education at Orange County Public Schools
Orange County Public Schools serves the area. Many kids start school at Palmetto Elementary, which has a C-plus on Niche, then move on to Westridge Middle School, which also has a C-plus. From there, they head to Oak Ridge High School, which scores a B on Niche and serves about 2,500 students. It offers several magnet programs, including digital media and gaming, hospitality management, aviation and aerospace engineering, and 3DE by Junior Achievement, which focuses on entrepreneurship. There are also various faith-based schools and one Montessori school in the area for those considering private education for their kids.I-4 and Lynx busses get residents where they need to go
Interstate 4 runs along the neighborhood's north side and connects to downtown Orlando, about 6 miles northeast. While most residents drive, there are Lynx bus stops along South Orange Blossom Trail for those who take public transportation. When people need to get out of town, the Orlando International Airport is about 12 miles east and offers flights worldwide.Close to The Mall at Millenia and commercial amenities
While shopping is limited within the neighborhood, plenty is nearby, including The Mall at Millenia. This large indoor shopping center offers luxury brands like Gucci, classic chain retailers like H&M, and a food court. "The Mall at Millenia is famous. It has some of the best shopping in Florida, and people from all over the world come to shop there," says Emily Armstrong, a Realtor at Keller Williams at the Parks Realty who sells throughout Central Florida. There are big box stores like Costco, IKEA and Target nearby, which provide more shopping options. Within the neighborhood, locals run errands at Publix off John Young Parkway and Walmart off South Orange Blossom Trail. For dining out, residents can head a couple of miles west toward Millenia for the many popular chain options or stay close to home and grab empanadas at Casa de las Empanadas or a strong margarita at Tortilleria La Mexicana.
