A central community close to beaches, businesses, and bigger cities

Across a thickly treed landscape not far from the shore, Lakevue residents enjoy immediate access to major thoroughfares and plenty of recreation options. The area also touches the southwest corner of Tomoka State Park, rich in Native American historic landmarks. Alex Bittner, Broker Associate and Realtor with Realty Pros Assured, and a Volusia County native who's been selling in the area for eight years, says, "No one living in this triangle east of The Trails calls the community Lakevue, but they do choose this area for its excellent centrality. Commuting anywhere is easy, whether heading north to 95 or south to the speedway or Port Orange, because Wilmette Avenue, Nova Road and US-1 are all fast-moving corridors." Well-regarded schools and parks are in the neighborhood, and the Halifax River and Ormond Beach oceanfront are only a couple miles east.

YMCA, Nova Center and parks

The Ormond Beach Family YMCA offers a wealth of programs and camps. In 2022, a new kids' zone and spin rooms were added to their roundup of amenities, such as a heated outdoor pool, basketball gym and sauna. Across from the Y, pups enjoy a dog park with agility structures on a fenced green lawn amid moss-draped oaks. Locals learn to skate at the Ormond Beach Astro Skate Family Fun Center, where teen nights and sessions from hip hop to tiny tots are popular. To the west, Nova Community Center and Park is loaded with indoor and outdoor amenities. Residents head here for racquetball, a well-equipped skate park, a sprawling lighted baseball complex and the playground at Rainbow Park, also known as Magic Forest. Kids enter through a painted rainbow and the imaginative playscapes incorporate rockets, forts and tubes. "Ormond Beach has more than 60 public parks," says Bittner, "so you're also near Sanchez Park, which is really pretty, and has a boat ramp for river access."

Volusia schools and a private option

Public schools are within the Volusia County School District, which Niche gives an overall B. Kids start at Pine Trail Elementary, given a Niche A-minus, before moving on to Ormond Beach Middle, which gets a B from Niche. Older students head to Seabreeze High which earns a Niche B-plus and features Career and Tech Ed Academies for students pursuing careers in healthcare, construction design, culinary arts and digital video. Bittner adds, "Temple Beth-El is a highly regarded private school option on Nova north of Wilmette. They have very low teacher turnover, and are considered a great launch pad to higher education."
