Scioto Township surrounds the small village of Ostrander. “Even though the area is mainly rural, there are pockets of growth reflected in new construction,” says Janelle Gasaway, a Realtor with J.W. Cutler & Associates, who specializes in selling property in the Delaware area. “People love this area because there’s a more relaxed feel and the tax rate is much lower. You also get good value for the price of the home.”

Lots of land
Whether it’s a new construction home or an 1850s Farmhouse, chances are a house in Scioto Township will come with a significant parcel of land. Most homes sit on 2-and-a-half to 5 acres and sometimes have multiple garages. Some new construction homes are part of a subdivision but typically have four bedrooms and around 2,000 square feet of space. The price range varies depending on the home's age but is usually between $400,000 and $600,000. Some newer homes can have a price tag close to $1 million. “Even though this is a rural area, you’re not far from Delaware to the east and Marysville to the west, so there’s not as much feeling of isolation,” Gasaway says. The city of Delaware is home to Ohio Wesleyan University and has plenty of locally-owned businesses and restaurants. Marysville is home to a Honda manufacturing facility and is a significant employer in the area.
