Overfield has vast farmland with a vibrant community on Lake Winola
In the northern ranges of Pennsylvania’s Endless Mountains lies the rural township of Overfield. It's popular for its market of single-family homes with spacious country lots, and for Lake Winola, a recreational hotspot surrounded by high-end cottages and vacation rentals. Overfield offers secluded homes near several wildlife preserves, while being a half-hour drive to Scranton and a 40-minute drive to Wilkes-Barre.

Buyers can find bilevels, Colonial Revivals and farmhouses sitting on multi-acre lots across the town’s rolling farmland and hills. Some homeowners use their land for hobby farming. The Lake Winola Cottagers Association maintains the community of homes and vacation rentals surrounding the lake, with annual fees of $300 per home or cottage. Membership includes trash and recycling pickup and access to the community pavilion for private gatherings. There are some brick townhouses and pricier lakefront cottages and Cape Cods by the lake, often featuring docks and boathouses.
