Whether living in a midcentury single-family home or a resort-style condo, residents of Hobson Park West enjoy walkability to spacious parks and restaurants in downtown Oxnard. With a central location, just 5 miles from Oxnard Beach and 4 miles from shopping at Riverpark, the city’s attractions are never too far. California Lighthouse – a condo community – draws many people to the neighborhood. “It’s a great option for all ages and lifestyles, with a variety of unit sizes and nice outdoor amenities like pools and courtyards,” says Realtor Xavier Flores with Keller Williams West Ventura County, who specializes in Oxnard and Ventura. Beyond condos, the neighborhood offers streets of single-family homes, where folks can have their own yard space with the same walkability and convenient location.
Gated condos and midcentury homes
Hobson Park West offers a mix of living spaces. The condos in California Lighthouse have become a popular option. “Residents love that it’s gated and has a pleasant community feel; plus, there are no Mello-Roos taxes,” says Keziah Aaliyah, Realtor with Balboa Real Estate, referring to the added property tax levied on homes in California. Residents enjoy resort-style amenities within the community’s gates, like pools and courtyards shaded by palms and laurels. The Mediterranean-inspired condos add to the coastal feel. Units range from a two-bedroom for $500,000 to a more spacious four-bedroom for $700,000. Single-family options can be found in Rancho Pacifico, a small subdivision across Ninth Street. Sidewalks, wide streets and manicured lawns give a suburban vibe. Prices start at $600,000 for three-bedroom midcentury ranch styles and reach $1 million for larger two-story midcentury homes.

Around downtown’s Plaza Park, folks enjoy carne asada and cold brews at Tacos el Diablo. Carnitas El Rey is another favorite spot, known for their carnitas tacos. Groceries can also be found around the corner at ALDI or Vons.
