Homes can meet a variety of budgets and needs
PGA National is made up of 46 separate subdivisions with around 5,000 homes, as well as a luxury hotel. And while the community is definitively upscale, there’s a wide variety in terms of price points, from condos starting at around $200,000 up to multimillion-dollar mansions. Most houses here were built in the 1980s and 1990s and feature Mediterranean accents, including terracotta roofs and intricately angled facades. “It really gives a dimension to the house that’s appealing to look at,” says Demitri. The single-family homes here fill lots that stretch anywhere from just under one-tenth of an acre to roughly three-tenths of an acre. HOA regulations require lawns to have features including at least one palm tree and shrubbery, Demitri says. Some houses in PGA National back up to one of the community’s lakes or a golf course. Condos can sell for just under $200,000 to $700,000, depending on the square footage. Townhomes start at $300,000 and typically top out at around $700,000. Single-family homes sell for between $400,000 to around $2 million depending on the floor plan, views and the home's amenities.Golf, tennis and more galore
This community offers a wealth of recreational opportunities, but it doesn’t handcuff its residents to them. “Residents move here for the opportunity to play golf or tennis, but membership is not mandatory,” says Michael Gozzo, president of Gulfstream Properties real estate firm with over two decades of real estate experience. The non-mandatory country club membership is what Demitri considers to be one of the biggest draws to PGA National. Those who choose membership can pick from different levels: a “Sports Membership,” for example, comes with access to things like tennis, the fitness center and some golf courses. The “Fit & Social Membership” opens the door to the Sports & Racquet Club and the pool. A “Golf Membership” lets people play all six courses. Its most famous is The Champion course, which hosts an annual PGA TOUR event, the Cognizant Classic. The Match and The Staple are new courses that came as part of a recently completed $100 million PGA National renovation. “If you’re a golf nut and you’ve got the time and the financial resources to do it, you can’t beat living here,” Demitri says. “The same thing with tennis,” he notes, thanks to the community's 19 courts. There are six pickleball courts and a paddleball court to boot. Also, the two-story members-only Sports & Racquet Club includes a spin studio, almost two dozen treadmills and ellipticals, a pair of aerobic studios, and more. Kids can take advantage of amenities like a splash pool and the playground at PGA National Park. Additionally, the community’s CAP Index crime score of 2 is lower than the national average of 4.Extracurricular fun for all ages
There’s a range of family-friendly programs and events, from the Banyan Buddies Summer Camp for kids to pickleball clinics taught by a Professional Pickleball Registry-certified coach. But perhaps the biggest event, Demitri says, is the community’s annual barbecue and fireworks show on the Fourth of July. The barbecue comes complete with a carving station offering everything from ribs and smoked brisket to hot dogs and hamburgers.A standout meal, right around the corner
PGA National’s on-site amenities include four full-service restaurants. The Butcher’s Club is a steakhouse offering wagyu, New York strip and other cuts. “It’s unbelievable,” Demitri says. Sushi by Bou offers an omakase experience, where the chefs guide the experience. Birdie’s is the spot for classic diner favorites, with a popular breakfast, and Honeybelle has American-style fare, including fried chicken. Residents can also hop right across PGA Boulevard, just outside the community, to grab groceries and other essentials from the Publix at Mirasol Walk, which borders a Walgreens. “Pretty much everything you would need is either inside PGA National or right across the street,” Demitri says. A bit farther down PGA Boulevard is The Gardens, a two-story mall with around 150 stores.Palm Beach Schools provide special programming
The School District of Palm Beach County covers PGA National Resort, a system with a B-plus grade on Niche. Kids here can take part in the dedicated STEM program at the A-minus-rated Timber Trace Elementary. The B-plus-rated Watson B. Duncan Middle includes academies in pre-finance and literary and fine arts. The area’s Palm Beach Gardens Community High also is rated B-plus and includes dedicated programs on topics ranging from medical sciences to global business and entrepreneurship.Transportation arteries ease congestion
While PGA National Resort welcomes both full-time residents and vacationers, one doesn’t necessarily interfere with the other. The feeder road to the resort is separate from the streets that lead to the residential sections of the community, so residents don’t have to fend off visitor traffic on the way home. “You just don’t see it,” Demitri says. “It’s not affecting it at all.” Demitri also notes that there’s an exit on Florida’s Turnpike right near PGA National. “It’s very convenient in getting access to the Turnpike to go anywhere you want to go in Florida,” he says. The Turnpike, for instance, can take people down to the Palm Beach International Airport about 15 miles away. Also, locals don't even have to hop on the high way to reach Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, which is only about 4 miles away via PGA Boulevard, North Military Trail and Burns Road.
