Known for its peaceful atmosphere and affordable homes, Palm Desert Greens Country Club is a private, 24-hour guarded golf course community for 55-and-older residents. Community members enjoy golfing privileges, recreational amenities, interest groups and social events within the association. Featuring close to 2,000 manufactured homes, homebuyers here have more affordable housing options and low HOA fees. “It’s a nice and safe community for retirees,” says Fatima Nordquist, a real estate professional at Power Brokers International with 20 years of experience. “It’s got lots of amenities, and many people have their second or third homes there.”

Affordable, manufactured homes at Palm Desert Greens Country Club

The community features single-story manufactured homes from the 1970s and the 1980s. Properties often feature midcentury modern or ranch-styles with two or three bedrooms. Real estate prices are usually between $200,000 and $550,000, with newer homes taking up the higher price point. “It’s all manufactured homes, and prices are a lot more reasonable than most other golf course or country club communities in Palm Desert,” Nordquist says. “Lots of homes are getting renovated, and many have views of the golf course.” Monthly association dues are about $400, which include trash, recycling, street sweeping, cable and internet fees. The community also features 24-hour security, making it a safe, and oftentimes self-contained neighborhood. The community manager also states that bingo night is the only function that lets outside people enter the association.

Golfing and recreational amenities at Palm Desert Greens

The community’s 18-hole executive course is often considered a recreational gem by its residents, and is the prime attraction for homebuyers who are avid golfers. The course is only open to residents and their guests, and many homeowners social over year-round tournaments and golf events. The association also offers three swimming pools and spas, a fitness center and sports facilities such as tennis and pickleball courts.

Interest groups and socials within the community

The community has about 50 organizations and recreational clubs, including fitness groups for various sports and game clubs for mahjong, Mexican Train Dominoes, poker and shuffleboard. All clubs are recognized by the board of directors, and homeowners will receive a list of all the available clubs and their points of contact once they move in. Other events in the city include the weekly street fair and farmers market organized by College of the Desert, and the much-anticipated annual Palm Desert Food & Wine Festival. Residents can also see live musicals and art performances at the McCallum Theater.

Restaurants in and around the country club

Residents often eat at the clubhouse, which has a restaurant called the Palm Desert Country Club Bar & Grill. The eatery offers classic American and pub fare, with live music nights on Fridays. Outside the association, popular spots include Sherman’s, a kosher deli and bakery, and Si Bon, which serves Belgian fare with an outdoor patio. Albertsons, which has an on-site pharmacy, is in the same plaza. Walmart is about 4 miles north.

Route 111 lets people access all of Coachella Valley

Interstate 10, about 4 miles north of the community, lets people get to San Bernardino, which is 66 miles west.
