Autumn Woods
Airbnb investments near Innisbrook Resort
Menninga says that Palm Harbor has its own tourist season, yet the area doesn’t have many hotels. “There are definitely people who invest in properties just to host on Airbnb.” In Autumn Woods, a new community called Estates at Eniswood is in pre-development on Almaria Court. Half-acre lots start at $300,000 and are situated on cul-de-sacs. Pre-construction builds are priced between $980,000 and $1.2 million and often feature four bedrooms and over 2,500 square feet of living space. Homes on the eastern side of Autumn Woods, like those on Leprechaun Lane and Rolling Woods Drive, become larger in price and stature. With long sweeping driveways and gated entryways on two to three acres, these properties mimic the grandeur of European castles. A five—to seven-bedroom estate, offering up to 8,000 square feet of living space, is priced at $1.2 to $3 million.Well-ranked Palm Harbor Schools
Autumn Woods students are enrolled in the Pinellas County Schools system, which earns an A-minus rating from Niche. The neighborhood’s youngest may attend Sutherland Elementary and Palm Harbor Middle schools, which earn A-minus and B scores, respectively. The A-rated Palm Harbor University High School boasts a 99 percent graduation rate. Students can choose between three different tracks: IB, Medical or Traditional. “It’s a coveted magnet school for engineering,” Mennenga says. “Young families are moving here just for the high school.”Innisbrook Golf Course and bayou views at Wall Springs Park
Autumn Woods has its own community park, featuring a playground, dog park and basketball and tennis courts. Occasionally, the Autumn Woods HOA will host a movie in the park here. North of the neighborhood is Innisbrook Resort and Copperhead Golf Course, a Valspar tournament host. Almost every green space near Autumn Woods is connected by the Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail, 1 mile outside of the neighborhood. Off Desoto Boulevard is Wall Springs Park, which offers walking paths and an observation tower overlooking the Boggy Bayou. 2 miles south is Pop Stansell Park. Locals can rent paddleboards and kayaks, have picnics under the gazebo, fish at the dock or use the park’s boat ramp access. “We’re on the Saint Joseph Sound. Almost everyone has a boat or knows someone with one,” Mennenga says. “Boating clubs are super popular here.”Dog-friendly Crystal Beach, a little over 1 mile away, provides views of Barrier Islands and the Gulf of Mexico. “Crystal Beach throws people off all the time because there is no beach,” Mennenga says, adding that the area has more marinas than it does sandy shores. “All the locals go to Honeymoon Island. I’ve gone there a lot with my mother and daughter. Low tide is the best time to go for sand dollars and seashells. You could be there all day long.”Suncoast seafood at Thirsty Marlin
Shopping and dining options are mainly located near U.S. Highway 19. Crystal Beach Plaza offers Publix Super Market and local restaurants such as Fairway Pizza & Sports Page Pub and Emily's Family Restaurant. Palm Harbor Boulevard takes locals to a historic downtown area with a lineup of restaurants, cafes and breweries. “We’ve got a lot of seafood. There’s Thirsty Marlin and a newer one called Crabby Bills,” Mennenga says. “But Italian and pizza is really good here, too. Madison Avenue is famous for its 32-inch pizzas. When my daughter is back from college, we go to La Dolce Vita Victoria.”Countryside Mall, 6 miles south, is the closest major shopping hub with designer brands and popular retailers.Festivals celebrating Palm Harbor’s citrus and heroes
The Palm Harbor Citrus Festival, now just Palm Harbor Fest, is held every April. “It’s a big family-community carnival that lasts three and a half days,” Mennenga says. “36,000 people attended last year. We also have a newer event called Palm Harbor Hero Festival that celebrates our teachers, fire-fighters, police officers and veterans.” Palm Harbor is home to the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, which features 20th-century and modern art installations.Getting in and around Autumn Woods
Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority operates a bus service, known as the SunRunner, with several stops along U.S. Highway 19 Alternate. “We also have the Jolley Trolley, which runs from Clearwater to Tarpon Springs,” Mennenga says. “It’s about $5 for the whole day. People take the beach route and bring a cold drink with them.” Pedestrians and bicyclists frequent the Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail, a paved path that runs from Tarpon Springs to St. Pete. The closest medical campus, HCA Florida Lake Tarpon, is 2 miles away. Autumn Woods is near Downtown Palm Harbor and is about 5 miles south of Tarpon Springs. Clearwater Beach and St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport are about 15 miles south.
