The suburban neighborhood of Beacon Groves, between Belcher Road and one of Palm Harbor’s busiest throughways, offers both competitive housing prices and proximity to shopping outlets and amenities. “It’s considered one of the more affordable areas in Palm Harbor,” says Brian Walsh, a Realtor with SkyCoast Realty. “People really get a bang for their buck.” Families pushing strollers or taking the dog for a walk is not an uncommon sight. Beacon Groves is in one of the most sought-after school districts in Tampa, which Walsh says is a big draw for clients.

Suburban developments, like Beacon Groves, began popping up after the Innsbrook resort opened in the late 1970s. Tall palm and oak trees shade the neighborhood's sidewalks. Two-car garages and Mediterranean-inspired arched entryways are common. These one-story homes come in neutral and beachy colors, often sea foam green and baby blue. While there aren’t many parks within walking distance, locals still have plenty to do outdoors. “We have recreation options for all ages here,” says Erica Lynford, director of Palm Harbor Parks and Recreation Department. “We’ve got sports leagues, summer camps and parks.” Lynford says that one of the great things about Palm Harbor, where Beacon Groves is located, is that it’s unincorporated. “Under a certain dollar amount, the Parks and Recreation department can just go in and fix something immediately. It doesn’t have to go through the county. We can take action faster.” The waterfront Pop Stansell Park has picnic tables and gazebos. The park’s dock is a popular spot for anglers to cast a line. Those looking to get out on the water can rent kayaks and paddleboards. Pop Stansell Park is within walking distance of the Pinellas Trail. Greater Palm Harbor YMCA provides an opportunity to stay active indoors.Water sports and fishing are big pastimes in Beacon Groves as Lake Tarpon and the Gulf Coast are 3 miles in either direction. Honeymoon Island State Park and Clearwater Beach are within a 14-mile drive. Golf enthusiasts in Beacon Groves can drive to the Innisbrook Resort, which hosts the Professional Golf Association’s annual Valspar Championship.

Year-round Palm Harbor celebrations
The annual Taste of Palm Harbor is held in October to support over 20 local restaurants and cafes. The Palm Harbor Fest brings live music, contests and vendors to downtown every April. Lynford says many kids participate in a summer camp program sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department. For a night of laughter, locals drive 3 miles north to Snappers Grill & Comedy Club.
Getting around Beacon Groves
Beacon Groves is located between Belcher Road and U.S. Highway 19, two of Palm Harbor’s main throughways. Belcher Road is lined by bus stops, operated by Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority. On the weekends, the Jolley Trolley offers scenic rides through downtown, Clearwater Beach and as far as Tarpon Springs, about 6 miles north. The nearest medical campus is Mease Countryside Hospital, almost 6 miles south via Tampa Road. For trips out of town, Tampa International Airport is 18 miles away.
