Life in Paris centers on clean energy and the calm countryside
Despite sharing a name with Paris, France, one of the most densely populated cities in Europe, Paris, Wisconsin, is about as rural and sprawling as it gets. The town in Kenosha County is home to fewer than 1,400 people, with about 40 residents per square mile. Only a few decades ago, agricultural and dairy farms filled the area. While some remain, Paris has taken on a different type of farming – it's rounding up energy from the sun. Paris Solar Park started generating energy in 2024, with more than 500,000 rotating panels on rolling hills, prairies and former farms. The 200-megawatt solar farm generates enough energy to power 60,000 homes. The no-stoplight town has little else outside the energy park, but its quiet, rural atmosphere attracts those seeking a slow-paced life.
Grain silos and farmland reflect Paris’s deep agricultural roots.

Cottages, ranch-style homes and farmhouses on many acres
Unlike in surrounding areas where land is bought or sold for new housing developments, the land available in Paris is predominantly for commercial and industrial use. Instead of in subdivisions, homes in Paris are along county roads backed by farms and forests. Ranch-style houses and cottages from the early 1900s range between $280,000 and $450,000. Limited Colonial Revivals and farmhouses with acres of tilled land or trees range between $670,000 and $1 million.
Ranch-style homes in Paris still provide plenty of space to grow.
