Park City offers rural living with some lower costs
Park City is a community of about 2,500 people located amid the hills and woods of southern Tennessee. Surrounded by acres of cattle and crop farms, the community is a mostly residential area with a few businesses. Park City also allows its homeowners to avoid some of the costs faced by its Lincoln County neighbors. “In Park City, you’re not in city limits, so you don’t have to pay city taxes. And there are good schools in that area,” says Vivian Fisher, principal broker with Leading Edge Real Estate Group. “It’s a little more country than living in the city limits.” The community is also along U.S. Highway 431, which provides a direct route to larger cities like Huntsville, Alabama. “It’s right above Alabama, where there’s a lot of shopping,” says Ryan Kent, principal broker and owner of Access Realty. “It’s a nice place to be, living on the Tennessee side with no state income tax.”
Neighborhood has ranch-style homes, farmhouses and room to spread out
Homes in Park City are spread across a few rural subdivisions. The homes line narrow, two-lane roads winding between woods and large open spaces. Mature trees surround many houses, which are on lots with paved and gravel driveways. Many lots go from about a third of an acre to 5 acres, but a few go above that range. The community has farmhouses, ranch-style and New Traditional homes, most ranging from about $150,000 to $370,000. Some multiacre properties run between $400,000 and $740,000.
Dining includes comfort foods, desserts and slawburgers
Park City has a few casual and diner-style restaurants. Among these places is Beano’s Kitchen, where options include chicken wings and seafood. “It’s got really good country cooking with some Cajun zing to it,” Fisher says. Our Place Diner serves comfort food in an automobile-themed interior with a black and white checkered floor. Dairy D’Lite is a classic spot for burgers, hot dogs and sundaes. A menu favorite is the slawburger, topped with mustard-based slaw. For groceries, shoppers may go to Fayetteville’s Walmart, 5 miles north.
Park City students will have access to new school facilities
Lincoln County Schools serves the area and receives a B-plus grade from Niche. Depending on where they live, students may start at either Highland Rim School, rated B, or South Lincoln School, rated B-plus. Both schools cover prekindergarten to eighth grade. New facilities opened at Highland Rim in 2025, including classrooms, a gym and a library. Park City students may attend Lincoln County High School, which gets a B from Niche.
Locals find recreation at Wells Hill Park and in Fayetteville
Wells Hill Park offers a nearby spot for recreation. The 114-acre preserve has narrow, unpaved trails winding through dense forest. The park also has waterfalls flowing over moss- and plant-covered outcroppings and an abandoned building covered in graffiti. Hikers, however, need to be careful not to step on the occasional snake. Park City residents may also find more recreation north in Fayetteville . Popular places in the neighboring city include Stone Bridge Memorial Park, known for its footbridge, pond and historic 18th-century log cabin. For indoor activities, there’s roller skating at Star Wheels.
Nearby Fayetteville is event destination
Neighboring Fayetteville offers a nearby spot for entertainment. One of the city’s long-running traditions is November’s Host of Christmas Past, an event to kick off the community's holiday celebrations. During the event, visitors walk the decorated downtown and visit the businesses there. Host of Christmas Past also includes activities like caroling and lighting the Christmas tree.
U.S. 431 is a commuter route
U.S. Highway 431 provides a direct route to Fayetteville’s historic downtown, just over 5 miles north of Park City. Fayetteville is also home to Lincoln Health, the only hospital in the area. Commuters may also use the highway to travel to Huntsville , 25 miles south. Alabama’s largest city has Huntsville International Airport, the nearest hub for commercial flights.
