Small, historic city full of small-town charm
Homes sit on large lots along narrow roads in Pembroke, the county seat of Bryan County. This small, historic city just 31 miles from Savannah. While residential areas may appeal to those interested in a more secluded, rural lifestyle, the city’s downtown district provides a close-knit, small-town feel. “We are small-town,” says Becky Stewart, the assistant manager at Pembroke Library. “It’s a typical small town where you do know pretty much everybody. Either you went to school with them, or you just know them from coming in and out of businesses,” Stewart says. In the downtown district, local shops cluster together along sidewalk-lined streets, and a quaint memorial park sits next to the police station.
Most homes are older, but development is steady
Homebuyers can expect to find a wide variety of architectural styles here. Among the most popular are shotgun, traditional, custom contemporary, Colonial Revival, Cape Cod, Victorian and ranch-style homes.
