Walnut Creek
Suburban Neighborhood in Pembroke Pines, Florida
Broward County 33024
Early 2000s Spanish Revivals
Once through the community’s guarded front gate, winding residential streets lead from one well-kept residence to the next. “When I first pulled up, the pretty waterfall at the entrance drew me in,” says Candace Hubbard Crum, Realtor with Coldwell Banker/Wellington. “After entering, the rest of the grounds matched that first impression.” Sitting within manicured front lawns are stately palm trees, which share space with community sidewalks and two-car driveways. Comprising the community are early 2000s Spanish Revival-style homes adorned with orange clay-tile roofs and cream stucco exteriors, many of which sit along one of ten residential lakes. These houses range in price from $520,000 to $800,000, while larger homes with recent upgrades can sell for just under $1 million. There are also a handful of townhomes and condos located on the community's western side, ranging from $260,000 to $460,000.Cooling off at Walnut Creek Club House
The private amenities of Walnut Creek Club House are within walking distance of each home. “I’ve seen older people out walking, mothers walking their babies in strollers, people walking their dogs,” says Hubbard Crump. In addition to meeting up with neighbors for a match on the tennis courts, residents can lay out on the pool deck or wade in the hot tub while little ones run loose on the neighboring playground. During Little League baseball season, the diamonds of Walnut Creek Park light up for Friday night games and welcome supporters cheering on travel league players during weekend tournaments. Meanwhile, time indoors is spent 3 miles northeast at Seminole Classic Casino Hollywood. Beyond its array of slot machines and table games, the frequented venue also brings in musicians for patrons to enjoy while placing bets.Stopping in for dinner along North University Avenue
North University Drive runs along the community’s western side and serves as the area’s main corridor for shopping and dining opportunities. Getting a bit to eat can include stopping to enjoy authentic dishes at Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine across the street or for date night at Capriccio Ristorante, a quarter-mile north. The upscale Italian eatery offers a white-tablecloth experience, where dinner comes paired with the sounds of live classical performers. Crossroads Square, home to a Publix Super Market for groceries and a handful of retailers sits a mile south along the stretch. Similarly, the Target situated in Lakeside Town Shops is a 2-mile trip north.Commuting along Interstate 95
Located 6 miles east, Interstate 95 connects travelers to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport 9 miles northeast and commuters to downtown Miami 26 miles south. Those attending classes at Broward College—South Campus can reach its campus off Pines Boulevard, 2 miles south. More conveniently, when medical care is needed, Memorial Hospital Pembroke is situated in the northwest corner of the community. Residents can also take advantage of Broward County Transit bus stops, which line bordering Sheridan and Taft Streets and link riders to the greater Broward County area.Earning international diplomas at McArthur High School
Young students, prekindergarten through 5th grade, will attend Sheridan Park Elementary School, which maintains a B-minus grade on Niche. Meanwhile, older students will head to B-minus-rated Driftwood Middle School and McArthur High School, which has a B rating. The Mustangs offer the AICE Cambridge Program to its students, a college-level curriculum that grants successful students with an international diploma and enrollment in the Bright Futures scholarship program. Private institutions, including Championship Academy of Distinction at Davie, International School of Broward and Beacon Hill School, all sit within 6 miles of the community.Catching shows at Hard Rock Live
Hard Rock Live’s 7,000-person entertainment venue sits one mile north of the casino. “They host big shows and concerts there, and people drive from miles away to attend these events,” says Hubbard Crum. However, thanks to its proximity, residents of Walnut Creek don’t have to travel far to catch concerts from musicians like Kacey Musgraves and Cyndi Lauper or comedy shows from acts like Kevin Hart and Martin Lawrence. The City of Pembroke Pines also hosts several events to attend throughout the year, including its Annual Art & Music Fest. The two-day event takes place in November at Charles F. Dodge City Center and celebrates local art through live performances, art demonstrations and several other activities for all ages.
