Thanks to a $2.7 million grant, the city of Perryton is recovering from a devastating 2023 tornado and is well on its way back to form as a hub for oil, farming and ranching. The storm, which killed three people and injured more than 100, destroyed more than 150 homes, two and half blocks of downtown and a fire station. “This is what I love about this area. People came from all over to help,” says Sandra Sears, the library director at Perry Memorial Library. “People left their equipment and said use it as long as you need it.”
