Logan Square offers homeowners historic buildings, public spaces and restaurants in walking distance
One of the central neighborhoods in the Parkway Museums District is Logan Square. The busy Center City is within walking distance of “a couple different downtown neighborhoods, so you’re pretty close to everything,” says Mike Bottaro, a local realtor with Homestarr Realty, with over $124 million dollars in sales. Public parks and historic art museums surround the eponymous square and feature well-maintained brownstone townhouses and high-rise condominiums.

Established brownstones and modern high-rise condos
“You’ve got more established homes in Logan Square, less construction than other downtown areas, and good walks to local restaurants,” says Mike Bottaro. Most Logan Square’s homes were built before the 1970s but feature well-maintained interiors and amenities. The community’s townhomes feature brick exteriors and ample street parking, while condominiums feature in-house amenities such as fitness centers, deck or balcony access and pet-friendly accommodations. Home prices vary depending on several factors; a condominium that is less than 1,000 square feet and is farther away from the community’s center starts in the low $200,000 range, while larger homes closer to major attractions or roadways can range from $500,000 to as high as $3 million dollars or more.

Benjamin Franklin Parkway leads through lush parks and to extensive museums and libraries
Locals walk down the massive French-inspired walkway in the center of Benjamin Franklin Parkway, lined with artworks, public parks and historic museums. Love Park is a vibrant urban plaza home to well-known artworks. It hosts the Christmas Village, a celebration featuring hundreds of vendors and a dazzling array of Christmas lights. The eponymous Logan Square features the ornate Swann Memorial Fountain, whose bronze swan statues symbolize the city’s waterways. The square is also bordered by Aviator Park, a park featuring the All Wars Memorial to Colored Soldiers and the Aero Memorial World War I, and by the Sister Cities Park, which features a toy-boat pond and a Children’s Discovery Garden. Northwest along the parkway is the main building of the Free Library of Philadelphia, which features a massive collection of rare works, including collections from Beatrix Potter and Edgar Allen Poe.

Big box stores and stylish restaurants
Logan Square has many local restaurants and franchise stores within walking distance of local homes. National franchises like Whole Foods and Target offer clothing and household necessities. At the same time, a range of familiar retailers and shops are located in The Concourse at Comcast Center. Locals have their pick of cozy restaurants and casual diners. Peddler Coffee offers a range of caffeinated beverages and baked goods. Logan Square has some of the best restaurants in the city,” says Realtor Mike Bottaro, including an array of high-end steakhouses, such as Chima Steakhouse. This Brazilian restaurant features modern décor and offers all-you-can-eat meats and a salad bar.

Benjamin Franklin Parkway runs through the center of the neighborhood, and Market Street and John F Kennedy Boulevard are other major thoroughfares. The neighborhood is fairly walkable, but the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority also has light rail and bus stations transporting locals all over the Downtown Philadelphia area. A lot of people ride their bike, but it seems kind of dangerous with all the cars and sometimes narrow streets. Walking is the best way to go in my opinion.
