Country living in Pine Township
Northeast Pennsylvania offers a slower pace than city living, with scenic, rolling hills of farmland where residents buy fresh produce from local farm markets and enjoy outdoor activities like hunting and golf. Columbia County’s Pine Township encapsulates rural Pennsylvania living while centrally located just a few hours from major cities like Philadelphia, Baltimore and New York City. “Pine Township is very rural, very country living,” says Realtor Angela Young with Century 21 Covered Bridges Realty, Inc. “It has rolling hills and lots of places to fish, and it’s not unusual to occasionally see an Amish buggy.”
Large lots in a fast-moving market
“Pine Township has larger parcels and a lot of farms,” Young says. “It’s very rural.” Most properties in Pine Township take up at least five acres. The area has a lot of A-frame cabins, farmhouses and ranch-style homes, as well as land for sale for buyers looking to build. Rental options are limited in Pine Township: nearly 90% of residents own their homes. Recent sales prices range from $65,000 to $490,000 for single-family homes and $60,000 to $720,000 for land. Pine Township’s market moves quickly, with homes selling after an average of 9 days, significantly faster than the national average of 49 days.
