Pioneer Village offers suburban living near Louisville
Pioneer Village is a bedroom community 15 miles south of Louisville. Set in northern Bullitt County, the small enclave has rows of single-family homes on traditional neighborhood streets, appealing to those seeking a suburban lifestyle. Residents are within easy reach of everyday amenities like schools, shopping centers and recreational places. Additionally, major highways provide commuters with access to nearby cities and employment centers, such as Louisville and Shepherdsville. “This is an older, established neighborhood with lots of classic brick houses,” says Jayme Burden, managing broker at United Real Estate with over 20 years of experience. “Many people look for homes in this community because they like its traditional vibe. The houses are very sturdy and well-built with good bones.” The area’s CAP Index Crime Score is 2 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4.
Suburban homes with spacious yards and a mix of classic styles
Pioneer Village is defined by slightly curved streets and small, rolling hills. With mature trees as backdrops, houses sit on grassy lawns with private driveways, giving the community a peaceful, suburban feel. The housing stock is a mix of ranch-style homes, French Provincial cottages, two-story Colonial Revivals and split-level builds. Many properties were built between the 1950s and early 2000s, featuring brick exteriors, backyard decks and attached garages. Prices usually fall between $200,000 and $500,000, with some subdivision homes requiring monthly HOA fees. “Houses here typically have more elbow room than in the city,” Burden says. “You get your own driveways and nice, deeper backyards, but there’s not a lot of turnover right now.” Burden also said most properties use private septic systems and are on city water.
Local recreation includes lakes, forests and golf courses
The neighborhood is surrounded by several recreational amenities, including the Bullitt County Disc Golf Course and the indoor roller-skating rink Skate-O-Rama.
