Preston Hollow-Deerfield
Brick and stone estates are framed by large oaks and walkways
Two-thirds of Preston Hollow-Deerfield consists of the sports park Heritage Yards. Preston Hollow-Deerfield is a sidewalk neighborhood of contemporary homes with neatly trimmed, spacious yards and concrete walkways. Most were constructed in the early 2000s, and the large layouts start around 3,000 square feet. Most of these towering residences are brick-clad structures with stylish hooded entries and mountainous rooflines. Price points in Preston Hollow-Deerfield are significantly higher than the city average, roughly $640,751. "It's a really expensive neighborhood. You won't find much for less than $800,000," says Jeff Sekula, Realtor at Bian Realty and 15-year Plano local. Generally, these four to five-bedroom homes are priced between $850,000 and $900,000, but a few rare homes under $780,000 can become available. There is also little turnover in this well-positioned area, which can drive a competitive market. As the closest park, Heritage Yards is somewhat of the neighborhood’s lynchpin. Its nine ball fields are frequented by uniformed kids playing tournaments and adult softball leagues. Locals can also hop on the nearby Legacy Trail for a long walk or bike ride. The paved route is 10 miles long, running along White Rock Creek, coursing through woodsy areas and alongside tidy subdivisions. The trail is a popular spot for cyclists, particularly during Plano's mild months, when you'll notice an uptick in visitors. Russell Creek Park is another swath of green space, mostly frequented for its array of sports fields, a pond and shaded pavilions.Close to prominent shopping malls, commercial areas and upscale restaurants
Driving up Preston Road for less than 1 mile, locals find a variety of dining and luxury stores between Stonbriar Centre and The Centre at Preston Ridge. Stonebriar Centre offers indoor shopping with roughly 200 department and specialty stores and nationally recognized chain restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory. Additional brand-name retailers, including Nordstrom and SuperTarget, can be found at the neighboring Centre at Preston Ridge Mall. While the two malls have ample upscale restaurants, there’s also the no-frills diner Norma’s Café, which specializes in local country cooking. Norma’s, which embraces the “eat dessert first” mindset, offers pie in a variety of flavors, including coconut cream and chocolate pie topped high with whipped cream. For tender brisket and peach cobbler, most head to Hutchins BBQ, also located on Preston Road. Grocery needs can be found at Sam’s Club and Walmart Supercenter, adjacent to both malls.Festivals in Plano bring Texans from all over the DFW metroplex
