The beauty of Utah Valley and convenience of nearby spots like Provo
Once famous as a major producer of strawberries and other fruits, Pleasant Grove – Utah’s “City of Trees,” according to its motto – has grown from its agricultural beginnings to offer residents a slice of the Utah Valley’s natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere without sacrificing access to urban amenities and the region’s booming Silicon Slopes area. “It’s close to a lot, but it has its own small-town feel,” says Emerie Swallow, listing manager at Summit Realty Inc. and longtime resident of Pleasant Grove. “It’s growing, but it’s also a generational kind of place, where a lot of your neighbors are the people you grew up with and consider to be extended family.”

Historic homes alongside modern contemporary builds
Areas like Sam White Lane demonstrate the housing variety Pleasant Grove offers. Parts of the neighborhood extend into the city's southwest corner — where Mormon settlers first established the settlement — and feature historic homes, with newly developed condominiums and housing developments just down the road. The Little Denmark neighborhood, named for Danish settlers who arrived in the 1800s, is home to classic ranch-style and rambler homes. Modern contemporary homes sit on quarter-acre lots at the foothills of Mount Timpanogos, close to American Fork, while large custom-built estates can be found in the northern part of the city. The median price for a home in Pleasant Grove is $521,000. The city is at a high risk of wildfire, potentially leading to higher insurance rates.

Orem and American Fork have even more retail options
Residents looking for a bite to eat will find contemporary options such as Village Baker and R&R BBQ along Pleasant Grove Boulevard. Historic, longstanding community stalwarts like the Purple Turtle eatery and U.G.L.Y.’s Closet consignment boutique are just off Main Street, toward what locals call Pleasant Grove’s downtown. Strawberry Days brings the community together
Strawberry Days is a celebration of Pleasant Grove’s fruitful past and is the longest-running community celebration in the state—held the third week of June every year since 1921. The week-long event features live music, parades throughout town, and a PRCA-sponsored rodeo competition – along with unlimited servings of strawberries and cream. “We’re one big rodeo family in Pleasant Grove,” says Swallow. “I did mutton busting as a kid – riding on a sheep for as long as possible – and I remember my grandpa always winning the trailer racing competition. It’s just a really fun part of living here.”
