Buyers can find ramblers, bi-levels and Cape Cods along tree-lined suburban roads around Pleasant Hills. Subdivisions include Woodridge Manor and Woodcrest, where stately colonial-style homes sit on spacious lots, and West Grove, which has detached townhomes closer to the commercial strip along Route 1. There’s also Legacy at Fallston Commons, an active-adult community for residents 55 and older. "Home prices are higher out there compared to the county," says Michelle Kahl, a Harford County local and Realtor with Coldwell Banker. "More land comes with the homes, so buyers may be dealing with an acre or more, depending on where it is around the community." Home prices range from $350,000 to $900,000, with prices depending on lot size and square footage.

Career and technical education courses at Fallston High School

Harford County Public Schools serves Pleasant Hills. Students can attend Youths Benefit Elementary School, Fallston Middle School and Fallston High School, which all receive A-minus ratings from Niche. Locals explore Gunpowder Falls State Park and historic Jerusalem Mill

Within Pleasant Hills is Bel Air Golf Center, which offers a driving range and mini golf course for family-friendly putting. Reckord Road Park has a playground, sand volleyball court, picnic tables and baseball fields where Little League games are often played. Just south of the community is Gunpowder Falls State Park, one of the largest state parks in Maryland. The park spans over 18,000 acres across rocky slopes and wetlands and features over 120 miles of picturesque multi-use trails, a beach and spots to kayak and fish.

Jerusalem Mill is a restored historic 18th-century Quaker village, where history buffs can walk along hiking trails and see exhibits in the gristmill, blacksmith shop and general store, with interpreters on the grounds explaining the lifestyles within the village hundreds of years ago.

Most of Pleasant Hills' businesses line the intersection of Route 1 and Mountain Road. Residents can stop by Fallston Barrel House, which serves wings, seafood and a rotating draft beer menu. There's also Horizon Cinemas Fallston, where folks can catch the latest hit movies. A Walmart sits two miles north on Route 1. Harford Mall, just four miles north in Bel Air, is home to over 70 retailers.

Commuters can reach Baltimore in under an hour

Due to the lack of public transit options nearby, Pleasant Hills residents are dependent on their own cars to get around town. "Most people commute between Baltimore and Delaware, or locally within Harford County; there are military employers like Aberdeen Proving Ground and Edgewood Center," says Kahl. Wilmington is a 55-mile drive north on Interstate 95, which takes approximately one hour. Commuters can also drive 21 miles south along Route 1 to Downtown Baltimore , which takes about forty minutes, depending on traffic. The Baltimore/Washington International Airport is 33 miles south and is the busiest airport in the National Capital Region. The University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Bel Air is the nearest hospital, just five miles north.
