A neighborhood ideal for nature lovers

Gatlin Pines has many draws that seem obvious: it’s centrally located between Jensen Beach and Tradition, the new master-planned community that offers a dizzying amount of shopping, dining and events; it doesn’t have an HOA, which can be challenging to find in the area; and the homes are relatively new. But there is a draw that some may not realize. “There’s so much great nature in the area for kayaking and canoeing. It’s quiet and serene. And you would never know based on the traffic and the people until you get on the water,” says Phillip A. Parisi, a Realtor with Sea Flag Homes who sells throughout the area.

Ranch-style and Minimal Traditional homes along quiet streets

The neighborhood has ranch-style and Minimal Traditional style homes, most built between the 1990s and 2020s. They feature low-pitched barrel tile roofs, big front windows and two-car garages, and many are painted in a variety of neutral colors, but a few homes feature brick facades. Front lawns are large and dotted with small palm and fruit trees. Homes sit close but offer enough space for privacy, and there are undeveloped lots throughout the neighborhood, which give each street an almost rustic feel since they’re not packed with houses. Sidewalks are hard to come by, but roads are quiet and offer enough room for residents to ride their bikes and walk their dogs. Prices range from $260,000 for three bedrooms and two bathrooms to $610,000 for four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with prices varying based on house condition. As for crime, Gatlin Pines scores a 3 on the CAP Index, one point lower than the national average.

Proximity to the North Fork St. Lucie Aquatic Preserve is a big draw

While there are no parks in the neighborhood, residents don’t have to go far to spend time outside. Many residents head to the North Fork St. Lucie Aquatic Preserve, about 9 miles east of the neighborhood, for canoeing and kayaking. Just 2 miles east of the neighborhood is Whispering Pines Park, a kid-friendly green space with a large, colorful playground, plus a go-to for pickleball, offering 24 courts at its on-site Racquet and Paddle Center. An on-site indoor gymnasium, Minsky Gym, offers a full-sized basketball court and two full-sized volleyball courts. On the other side of Gatlin Pines is O.L. Peacock Sr. Park, 100 acres of dog-friendly green space where locals fish and kayak in the lake and walk along the track.
