A dynamic and evolving neighborhood where community and innovation intersect
Lents is the perfect neighborhood for residents looking for something on the rise. This southeast section of the city is a bubbling and eclectic hamlet packed with considerable ethnic diversity, businesses, transportation access and much more. A long-running urban renewal project in Lents has injected tens of millions of dollars of development into the area, helping catalyze the current zeal of the neighborhood. “Lents is a dynamic and evolving community,” Nick Shivers, CEO Principal Broker at The Nick Shivers Team says. “It’s a neighborhood on the rise, celebrated for its diversity, resilience and commitment to growth. It's an area where community and innovation intersect, making it an exciting place for both new and long-time residents.”
Variety of affordable single-family homes
“Compared to surrounding areas, Lents offers more affordable housing options, a variety of home styles and sizes, and a genuine community vibe,” Shivers says. Homes in Lents tend to hold price tags in the range of $200,000 to $600,000. Homebuyers will find some homes in Lents built in the early 20th century, and others built across a timeline that spans to the present day. Styles thus vary greatly, in a range of single- and multi-story layouts. Smooth, cement sidewalks are a common theme, helping to make Lents walkable whether residents want to visit a friend down the street or hit one of the neighborhood’s residential corridors for a bite to eat.

Diverse dining options
Southeast Foster Road, which cuts diagonally through Lents, is one of the main such thoroughfares in Lents. The selection of standout eateries there and elsewhere in the neighborhood reflects the cultural melting pot Lents is — inhabited by many Latin, Asian and Eastern European immigrants. Residents enjoy stopping by K-Town Korean BBQ off of Southeast Foster Road. There, customers can enjoy an all-they-can-eat experience while savoring the succulent smells of beef and chicken cooked right at your table. Taqueria El Capullo, down the road, has tacos that explode with flavor. And they don’t skimp on the portions, either. Or if locals are in the mood for brunch — which could, understandably, be all the time — Oliver’s Cafe could become their new favorite haunt. And this isn’t some generic diner sacrificing quality for price. Rather, Oliver’s Cafe makes all of its offerings from scratch, crafted fresh each day. Customers enjoy the Oliver’s Omelet, filled with molten Swiss cheese, onions, spinach, mushrooms, avocado and turkey sausage, and wash it down with a tangy mimosa. For residents looking to make a meal at home, WinCo Foods is right outside the neighborhood boundaries on Powell Boulevard.

There visitors can play some pick-up basketball, spark up a game of tennis or take the kids to explore the immersive playground area, complete with a rock-climbing wall and a xylophone. The park also includes Walker Stadium, which is home to the Portland Pickles, a summer collegiate wood bat baseball team. A visit to one of their games is a fun way to spend a summer evening. This area is getting nicer by the week. Lot's of the negative reviews on Lents are from a while back, and I don't think they are still true. We absolutely love living here. We can WALK to Pickles baseball games, the farmers market, multiple coffee shops, bakeries, and food carts. It's everything that inner SE has, but at half the price :). Lents doesn't suck.

Some of the neighborhoods need better lights and sidewalks. Can be dangerous to walk home at night after work.
