Rose City Park

Stop by the Rose City Food Park, then continue on to Hollywood
A cluster shops and eating spots can be found right along Sandy Boulevard. Among them is the Rose City Food Park, one of a number of food cart pods located around Portland. Visitors can pick from well over a dozen food trucks, as well as enjoy the beer garden in the dog friendly pod. Picnic tables and wooden lawn chairs are placed across the pod. Other nearby options include Du’s Grill, which boasts having the “Best Korean Teriyaki in the Known Universe.” Continuing farther east along Sandy and into the Roseway area, those looking for groceries can stop by the Safeway. Going west, Sandy leads to another dense dining and entertainment destination in neighboring Hollywood. There’s a Trader Joe’s and Hollywood Farmers Market for fresh produce. There’s also the historic Hollywood Theatre, a renovated Prohibition-era movie house known for screening indie films and hosting live shows. The venue, which brought back 70 millimeter projection in 2015, also screens classic flicks. A screening of the silent science fiction film Metropolis involved an organist playing the score on the theater’s Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ, giving viewers the authentic and classic movie-going experience.Rounds at the Rose City Golf Course and youth indoor soccer
A small portion of the 18-hole Rose City Golf Course extends into the eastern end of the neighborhood. This public course’s tree-lined fairways covers more than 140 acres and its perimeter is a popular spot for strollers. Rose City Park features some green space that dog owners use to let their pups roam and get some exercise. There are also ongoing plans to provide a new trail around the course’s perimeter. Children can get on the playground set under the shade of the tall trees at Normandale Park. The space located along Northeast Halsey Street features a fenced dog park, which is not widely common across the city. The dog park is further split into sections for small and large-sized dogs. Located right along the neighborhood’s southern bounds is Rose City Futsal EAST, one of the operation’s two Portland facilities. Futsal is soccer usually played indoors and on a hardwood floor. With multiple state-of-the-art courts, Rose City Futsal’s activities include youth leagues and camps for young and aspiring players. The facilities come complete with Clive’s Public House on the second floor, where fans and family can watch the action while enjoying some beers.Craftsmen, bungalows and some English Tudors
Rose City Park’s neighborhoods features charming, tree-lined blocks, where it’s not uncommon to see homes occupying raised lots with sloping front lawns. Among the widely common builds here are one- or one-and-a-half story Craftsmen and bungalows than can run from just over $630,000 to around $760,000, with overall size playing a factor. There are some nearly century-old English Tudors that can be found just southwest of the golf course. With overall size playing some role, price points for those can run between the lower $600,000s to over $800,000.Vietnamese dual language program at neighborhood elementary school
The neighborhood has access to some strongly rated schools. They include Rose City Park Elementary, Beaumont Middle School, Grant High School and Leodis V. McDaniel High School, all of which received grades of B or higher from ratings site Niche. The elementary school offers a Vietnamese dual language immersion program. There’s also a pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade alternative in the St. Rose School, a private Catholic institution located within Rose City Park. The more than 100-year-old private school’s programs and focuses include STEM and a MakerSpace.Close to Rose Festival events
Like other Portland residents, Rose City Park residents can conveniently access the city’s annual lineup of events and festivals, including the flagship Portland Rose Festival that typically runs from late May to mid-June. One of the festival’s events is the Fred Meyer Junior Parade, which takes place in June in neighboring Hollywood to the west. Other events not too far Rose City Park include the Alberta Street Fair that also takes place in June, but in nearby Alberta.I-84 connections and access to MAX rail lines
Interstate 84 runs right along the neighborhood’s southern bounds, connecting to interstates 5 to the west and 205 to the east. I-5 runs past downtown Portland, which is about 5 miles west of Rose City Park. I-205 runs toward the Portland International Airport, located about 5 miles north of the neighborhood. The MAX light rail’s Blue, Green and Red lines also run along Rose City Park’s southern bounds and stop at the Northeast 60th Avenue station. TriMet bus stops are located across the neighborhood. The Providence Portland Medical Center is located just outside the neighborhood’s southern bounds.
