Riverside suburb with city conveniences
Situated between Interstate 90 and the Spokane River, Centennial provides homeowners with easy access to shopping, dining and outdoor recreation. It is located in the city of Post Falls, about 8 miles from Coeur d’Alene and 28 miles from Spokane. “The location is optimal for somebody who wants to be in the Post Falls area because it’s close to everything, but basically at the end of the road,” says Wade Jacklin, owner of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Jacklin Real Estate and longtime Realtor in the area. “The next thing to the south is the Spokane River, so you won’t have a lot of traffic coming through. It’s peaceful and quiet.”

Diving into fun on the Spokane River
Centennial residents have multiple parks nearby that offer plenty of outdoor activities, especially water sports. “The Spokane River is right there, so recreation there is popular, whether you’re boating, stand-up paddleboarding or swimming. There’s some good hiking. The Centennial Trail goes right through,” Jacklin says. The neighborhood’s namesake, the North Idaho Centennial Trail, passes through the community’s northern end. This paved 23-mile trail runs from the Washington state line to just east of Coeur d’Alene and is a popular spot for biking and running. Kiwanis Park is a 40-acre green space with a swimming area and fishing access on the Spokane River. The park also has trails and picnic areas. Ross Point Recreation Area is a section of the riverbank owned and operated by the Bureau of Land Management, with picnic shelters and a floating dock. Residents can cast a line in the water or launch non-motorized watercraft like kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.

Housing styles for multiple budgets in Centennial
The neighborhood started to be developed in the 1970s, but most homes were built in the 1990s and 2000s. Buyers can find new traditional, Craftsman and ranch-style houses. The neighborhood streets feature sidewalks and have mature trees towering above. Houses are close together but often have spacious front and back yards, with lots measuring between 7,000 square feet and a quarter acre. The homes themselves are usually around 2,000 to 3,000 square feet and cost between $500,000 and $800,000. Closer to the water, the homes get larger, with many between 3,000 and 6,000 square feet. Waterfront properties tend to be contemporary Craftsman or Mediterranean in style and usually have private docks on the river. Waterfront homes can cost between $1 million and $3 million. Despite the neighborhood's location on the river, there is a low risk of flooding, even for waterfront properties.
