Living among the Bradshaw Mountains
At Lynx Mountain View Estates, living the high life doesn’t require a multimillion-dollar home. This high-altitude community, ensconced among the Bradshaw Mountains east of Prescott, is teeming with custom-built residences offering panoramic views of the nearby city and its hilly suburbs. “It’s tucked away; if you didn’t know about it, you wouldn’t find it,” says Realtor Paula Smith with RE/MAX Mountain Properties, a longtime Prescott Valley resident and seller. “I didn’t know about it, and I’m sorry I didn’t buy in it when I first came here; it’s a very nice area where homes have large acreages.” This neighborhood’s cliffside houses are just 2 miles off State Route 69, allowing easy access to nearby shopping and dining while maintaining a quiet, natural feel.
Camping and hiking near Lynx Lake
Lynx Mountain View Estates derives its name from its proximity to Lynx Lake, a reservoir immersed in the forested scenery of the Bradshaw Mountains. This 55-acre lake is surrounded by campgrounds shaded by ponderosa pines, and the lake itself is a regionally popular venue for kayaking. Hikers can also roam the 4-mile Salida Gulch Trail, passing by colorful wildflowers and ancient petroglyphs. The short East Thumper Trail branches off from a road of the same name and cuts through thick forest before connecting with the Nugget Patch Trail road. In addition, the nearby Stone Ridge Golf Course and its 2,000-acre,18-hole course are open to the public.
