Living among the Bradshaw Mountains

At Lynx Mountain View Estates, living the high life doesn’t require a multimillion-dollar home. This high-altitude community, ensconced among the Bradshaw Mountains east of Prescott, is teeming with custom-built residences offering panoramic views of the nearby city and its hilly suburbs. “It’s tucked away; if you didn’t know about it, you wouldn’t find it,” says Realtor Paula Smith with RE/MAX Mountain Properties, a longtime Prescott Valley resident and seller. “I didn’t know about it, and I’m sorry I didn’t buy in it when I first came here; it’s a very nice area where homes have large acreages.” This neighborhood’s cliffside houses are just 2 miles off State Route 69, allowing easy access to nearby shopping and dining while maintaining a quiet, natural feel.

Creative custom-builds in the hills

This neighborhood is located 2 miles off State Route 69 and among the Bradshaw Mountains. Most houses sit on hillsides, some of them featuring stilts that uphold both the home and decks offering panoramic views of nearby communities. Lynx Mountain View Estates has no HOA, and residents are free to build any home they like. This variety of aesthetic tastes reflects itself in this neighborhood’s mixture of ranch-style houses, two-story homes with wrap-around porches, and even custom builds with Pueblo and Chalet-style designs. Older ranch-style homes range in value from $410,000 to $745,000, while single-story residences built from the 2000s to 2020s can fetch between $800,000 and $1.3 million. Multi-story contemporary houses can sell for as little as $1.13 million to as much as $1.25 million. This community’s residences tend to feature broad driveways with scrubland separating properties. The main roads are lined with cypress trees, cacti and other Western flora.

Camping and hiking near Lynx Lake

Lynx Mountain View Estates derives its name from its proximity to Lynx Lake, a reservoir immersed in the forested scenery of the Bradshaw Mountains. This 55-acre lake is surrounded by campgrounds shaded by ponderosa pines, and the lake itself is a regionally popular venue for kayaking. Hikers can also roam the 4-mile Salida Gulch Trail, passing by colorful wildflowers and ancient petroglyphs. The short East Thumper Trail branches off from a road of the same name and cuts through thick forest before connecting with the Nugget Patch Trail road. In addition, the nearby Stone Ridge Golf Course and its 2,000-acre,18-hole course are open to the public.

Highway access to Prescott

Lynx Mountain View Estates is just a 2-mile drive from State Route 69, the main thoroughfare between Prescott and its eastern suburbs. “Its location offers easy access to the highway, but you’d have to get in the car to go have coffee,” Smith says. Prescott sits 8 miles west of Lynx Mountain View Estates, while Prescott Valley - with its shopping and its campus of the Yavapai Regional Medical Center - is 6 miles to the northeast.

Easy access to shopping and dining

Because of its location just off State Route 69, Lynx Mountain View Estates offers easy access to major shopping centers. The Prescott Valley Crossroads, located 5 miles up the state route, includes a Sprouts Farmers Market in addition to a selection of restaurants. W&Z Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar is known for its extensive Asian fusion menu, including sushi and pad thai, and for its colorfully lit bar. The Pine Ridge Marketplace, an indoor shopping complex, is just 4 miles down State Route 89 to Prescott. Here, dozens of clothing stores, including a JCPenny and Dillard’s, sit beside a Trader Joe’s and near a Costco and Walmart.
