From ranchland to rip-roaring suburb
Prescott East, a subcommunity of Prescott Valley, has taken on a life and unique character of its own since the town’s founding in 1978. This former ranchland and gold country from the Old West era has become home to hundreds of ranch-style residences and even more people. “It’s gone from 11,000 to 50,000 people over the past 30 years,” says local Realtor Paula Smith with RE/MAX. “It’s grown to become the ‘Starbucks-suburban’ area of Yavapai County.” In Prescott East, direct access to Route 69 shopping melds with residential quiet to provide residents with the full Prescott Valley experience.

Hiking through mountains and mining country
Prescott East is located just across State Route 69 from Fain Park, a 100-acre park donated to the town of Prescott Valley by the Fain family in 1997. Fain Lake is popular for fishing and picnicking, and a trail around the lake invites hikers to take pleasant, tree-shaded strolls. Bird species from Mallard and Ruddy Ducks to wrens, kingfishers and grosbeaks call this park their home and lend their chirps to the natural ambiance. The park also relates Prescott Valley’s history through signage and the preserved site of a decommissioned mine, complete with vintage mining equipment near the long-closed pit. The Glassford Summit Trail starts at the northern end of Prescott East. It leads into the rolling hills of Prescott Valley, where hikers can climb an extinct volcano and take in the views of a biome inhabited by pronghorns, snakes, eagles and even the occasional mountain lion.
