Quieter neighborhood on the southern edge
Located on the southern edge of Pueblo, the El-Camino neighborhood separates itself from the city’s industrial feel. Its quieter enclave and larger homes are a couple of reasons why it’s one of the more popular neighborhoods. “It’s more suburbs feel. You’re on the outskirts of Pueblo,” says John R. Beaupre, real estate agent at HomeSmart Preferred Realty, who’s been in the area for over five years. “A little more elbow room, and you’re removed from the hustle and bustle and the sights and sounds of downtown.” Despite this removal, residents are not far from city amenities like shopping, dining and recreation.

Larger properties with Stucco roofing
El Camino is a more pricier option in Pueblo, and that’s due to the larger homes with larger lot sizes compared to other neighborhoods. “It’s an exclusive neighborhood,” Beaupre says. “Visually, when walking around the neighborhood, it feels much different compared to other neighborhoods.” The suburban feel shines through its walkable tree-lined streets and homes with large front lawns adjacent to lengthy driveways with multi-car garages. Modern ranch homes with stucco roofing are priced from $390,000 to $825,000. Two-story modern Mediterranean homes are in cul-de-sacs, starting at around $500,000 and peaking at over $1.2 million.

Close by to Lake Pueblo State Park
El Camino has its self-named park and is centrally located in the neighborhood. Several paths allow for afternoon walks. Kids can enjoy the playground, and competitive games can occur on the tennis courts. Joseph McKlosky Park is a smaller pocket park with a playground. Just a ten-minute drive away to access the ample water recreation at Lake Pueblo State Park. The 10,000-acre park draws over 3 million visitors a year. “The watersports are huge whether you fly fish or kayak; we have that in a desert climate. We have water, and we recreate on it,” says Nicki Hart, longtime resident and business owner. Other opportunities include sailing, motor boating or waterskiing. Land recreation at Lake Pueblo is also as prevalent as the water, offering 15 miles of trails, picnicking and camping.

Head downtown for a bite to eat
El Camino has no restaurants, so most people would visit downtown for a bite to eat. B Street Café is a casual breakfast and lunch spot with outdoor seating and a retro dining room. Gray’s Coors Tavern is full of history, mainly because it’s the birthplace of the Slopper. The trademark sandwich involves two open-faced hamburgers smothered with green or red Chile sauce, beans and onions. Sweet Ella’s Bakery sells all desserts and pastries with organic ingredients. For shopping, residents are minutes from the essential stores around Pueblo Boulevard and Northern Avenue. Clothing and home essentials can be bought at Lowe’s, Walmart Supercenter or Ross Dress for Less. Groceries can be purchased from Walmart Neighborhood Market, Safeway or King Soopers.
