Emperor Estates is a suburban neighborhood near retail
Emperor Estates is a small community with two subdivisions managed by homeowners associations. A central park provides recreation space, and shopping centers are just a short drive away. “The neighborhood is an older development with great homes," says Susan Bermudez, a Realtor with LPT Realty and a local since 1999. "[The area] is just south of Mesa Gateway Airport, so you’ll hear planes, but it’s in a great location and not directly in the flight path.” Families with school-aged children are drawn to the neighborhood, mainly due to its highly rated school district.

Close to shopping centers and local cafes
On South Sossaman Road, Creek Side Taco Shack has a laid-back atmosphere with an outdoor deck where locals gather around bonfires. Nearby on South Rittenhouse Road, QC Junction Café is a student-run coffee shop operated by culinary students from Canyon State Academy. Specialty lattes, breakfast sandwiches and plenty of seating make it a popular spot for students. Queen Creek Marketplace is 2 miles away and features a multiplex movie theater, Target and Trader Joe’s. Bermudez says Pecan Lake Entertainment is one of her favorite spots in the city. “Caldwell County BBQ at Pecan Lake started in Gilbert, expanded to Queen Creek, then built a racetrack and an obstacle course with bungee jumps and zip lines," she says. "There’s also a big, covered horse arena where people practice barrel racing and host rodeos. It’s open to the public, and there’s always food.”

Established homes that are managed by HOAs
The community's two subdivisions are Emperor Estates and Remington Heights. Both feature homes with neutral exteriors that mirror the desert surroundings. There is limited backyard space, but a few residents have added pools. The neighborhood has sidewalks, which make walking to the park easy. Most properties here date back to the early 2000s, but some were built within the last decade. "Because they are older homes, they have lower ceilings," Bermudez says. "Most newer homes have over nine-foot ceilings, and these are around eight.” Prices range from $439,000 to $675,000 for about 3,000 square feet. Newer homes of similar size, built in the mid-to-late 2010s, can sell for $690,000 to over $775,000. The neighborhood has a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.

The neighborhood is near Mansel Carter Oasis Park
Remington Heights Park is the neighborhood's central green space, with shady playgrounds and sports fields. Queen Creek Wash Trail has over 5 miles of uninterrupted pathway. The trail was updated in late 2024 with smooth asphalt and ramps for equestrian access. Bermudez says the city has many places to beat the heat, like the 48-acre Mansel Carter Oasis Park, 2 miles away, with a large lake and a splash pad. “The desert heat takes getting used to. It’s hot and going to be over the 100s, but the sun is always shining," Bermudez says. "People adjust, just like they do in cold weather. The older I get, the more I appreciate the dry heat."
Kids cool off and parents can get out of the sun at the splash pad in Mansel Carter Oasis Park.
