Sossaman Estates
Spanish-style homes fill the community, many have in-ground pools
Bike lanes, sidewalks and crosswalks create a positive pedestrian experience across Sossaman Estates. Cacti and other native flora sprout from the community's pebbled front yards, where two-car driveways lead to Spanish-style homes built during the early 2000s. Clay-tiled roofs and warm-toned exteriors add to the community’s Southwestern aesthetic, while in-ground pools offer an escape from the region's hot summers. Most homes sell between $650,000 and $800,000. However, larger recently built properties can reach up to $1.6 million. Homebuyers can also expect more homes on the market as open land in the area's eastern and southern ends continues to develop. Sossaman Estates also has a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.Activities range from hiking at Queen Creek Wash Trail to golfing
Several green spaces with sports courts dot the neighborhood. Queen Creek Wash Trail passes through the community’s northern portion. “It’s a very popular trail for hiking, biking and horseback riding,” Anderson says. The multiuse path offers miles of jackrabbit sightings and connects to Mansel Carter Oasis Park, 2 miles east. Anderson says the park is a hub for recreation. “It’s one of the city’s newer parks, where they host ball games and have a lake for fishing.” Visitors can also practice tricks at its skate park, head to the aquatic park and playgrounds, or tee off at Power Ranch Golf Club’s 18-hole public course just west of East Village Parkway.Sossaman Estates students attend Higley Unified School District
Higley Unified School District serves Sossaman Estates and has an A-minus grade on Niche. Cortina Elementary School maintains an A grade alongside Sossaman Middle School, located in the heart of the community and within walking distance of homes, Anderson says. At A-minus-graded Higley High School, juniors and seniors can earn dual enrollment credits and industry certifications while taking half-day courses at East Valley Institute of Technology. The hands-on learning career and technical school offers 40-plus pathways ranging from Health Sciences to STEM and Industrial Trades.Residents shop and dine at Queen Creek Marketplace
A Safeway supermarket and a handful of chain restaurants like Subway and Rosati’s Pizza sit within small developments at the intersection of Queen Creek and Powers roads. “Everyone in the city does their shopping at Queen Creek Marketplace, and it's not too far from the community,” Anderson says. 3 miles east, the shopping mall is home to national retailers, including Target, T.J. Maxx and Kohl’s, that share space with a collection of eateries like Barrio Queen, where patrons enjoy Mexican fare and occasional live music on the patio.Schnepf Farms markets and citywide rodeos are well attended
Seven miles southeast, Schnepf Farms stays busy year-round. “They have a U-pick farmers market, do a corn maze in the fall and have live music from time to time,” Anderson says. "It's a bit of a local attraction." Visitors also gather for equestrian events at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre. “They happen all the time here,” Anderson says. “They do a typical rodeo many people go to, and the Queen Creek Draft Horse Classic, where the horses pull Wells Fargo and Budweiser trailers.”Commuting around and out of Sossaman Estates
