Winding suburban streets next to Long Island
Little Neck is a small, pizza-slice shaped neighborhood on the northeast edge of Queens near Long Island. Its primarily residential streets create a slow-paced atmosphere that’s occasionally broken up by crossing thoroughfares with businesses and public buses, plus a Long Island Rail Road train that reaches Manhattan in just over 30 minutes. “You have access to all the shopping on Northern Boulevard and the parks as if you lived in a city. And it’s a very walkable city,” says Gio Mangano, a resident and real estate agent with over 15 years of experience. “But when you come home, you have that suburban retreat. We’re as suburban as you can get in Queens.”
Little Neck is a serene haven, offering tranquility in the midst of the bustling city.
Little Neck combines the unique benefits of suburban and urban living to create a community.

Well-maintained colonials and new construction trends
The northern half of Little Neck, above the Long Island Expressway, has a mix of colonials and new traditional-style houses, along with eye-catching Mediterranean Revival estates. Houses in the southern half are a little boxier and less grandiose, and across these styles, prices range from around $800,000 to over $1.6 million. According to Mangano, new construction on oversized lots is a growing trend. “The small ranches on 50-by-100 lots are really desirable,” she says. “They’ll sell for $800,000, and contractors will level them and start from scratch.” Brick multifamily houses throughout the neighborhood start around $1 million and go up to $1.8 million. On the south side, Deepdale Gardens is a 60-acre co-op complex with nearly 1,400 units across about 100 buildings. Prices for these, as well as units in a pair of mid-rise co-op buildings on the east side, range from $200,000 to $400,000.
Little Neck is known for its multi-level Colonial homes with column-lined or arched entryways.

I always feel safe in Little Neck/ Douglaston area. There are mainly cops around to give out speeding or parking tickets. There is no crime around generally.

Over the past 10+ years I've lived in Little Neck, I've realized that there were many advancements of this small neighborhood. Unlike the past years, Little Neck now has many stores scattered everywhere including food, drinks, cafes, and grocery stores. There are cafes that opened up in Little Neck and many people from other neighborhoods come here to relax and to study. I don't feel the need to go to a different neighborhood to hang out with my friends because Little Neck has everything I need. There are many pizza stores, chain stores, as well as family-owned businesses. Little Neck is a neighborhood that really feels like a strong knit community with the mix of chain stores and family-owned businesses.

The neighborhood is quiet with good school, neighbors are nice and helpful. There is a lot of convenienve to stores that are open 24hrs a day. The only negative I can find is that there are no local pubs in walking distance to relax after work with a beer. Some people would even consider this a positive though.
