Eclectic neighborhood in proximity to Manhattan
Situated on the edge of Queens and right next to Brooklyn district Bushwick, Ridgewood is a historical neighborhood with a generationally rooted community atmosphere and an up-and-coming food scene. In recent years, Ridgewood has become attractive to a slew of new homebuyers. People have been coming here for a hundred years but what’s changed is that prices in neighborhoods like the Lower East Side and Williamsburg have gotten so high in the past three decades that many–recent immigrants and creative professionals – among others – have started to look further down the line, the L and M Subways to be exact.
Ridgewood can offer some great views of Manhattan skyline.
Rudy's Bakery & Cafe has been a Ridgewood landmark since 1934.

New independent and long-established eateries
This more recent influx has added to the area’s multicultural and creative enclave vibe but also the emergence of a thriving food and bar scene. While most of Ridgewood’s tree-lined streets are quiet, commercial districts along Myrtle, Forest and Metropolitan avenues have an eclectic offering. Like homeowners, newly established independent businesses benefit from the neighborhood’s relative affordability and Subway links. Most of these small stores and eateries tend to group around stops like Myrtle-Wyckoff. Foodies from throughout the city are drawn to hip haunts like Rolo’s–with its unique take on continental classics. Sundown Bar is a trendy spot popular with young locals. Long-established Decades Pizza, Cholita coffee shop and the Nhà Mình Vietnamese restaurant are some of Wittmann’s favorites. There’s a Key Food grocery and FOOD BAZAAR on either end of St. Nicholas Avenue.
Try the savory Golden Green at Decades Pizza
Supermarkets like Food Bazaar provide great convenience to Ridgwood residents for daily needs.

Well-preserved prewar two and three-family homes
Well-maintained multifamily homes built in the early 1900s are the norm and range from $850,000 to $1.8 million depending on size and condition. These predominantly Renaissance Revival properties–often with Romanesque and Greek Revival details–are joined by a handful of contemporary infills and even a few condos. Two bedroom units in this category hover around the $1 million mark when they come on the market. More residents are homeowners than renters in Ridgewood, which is starkly different to nearby Brooklyn neighborhoods like Bushwick and Williamsburg.
Visit the Ridgewood Historic District for classic row homes.
Smaller side streets of Ridgewood contain single family homes of varying size and style.
