Eclectic neighborhood in proximity to Manhattan
Situated on the edge of Queens and right next to Brooklyn district Bushwick, Ridgewood is a historical neighborhood with a generationally rooted community atmosphere and an up-and-coming food scene. In recent years, Ridgewood has become attractive to a slew of new homebuyers. People have been coming here for a hundred years but what’s changed is that prices in neighborhoods like the Lower East Side and Williamsburg have gotten so high in the past three decades that many–recent immigrants and creative professionals – among others – have started to look further down the line, the L and M Subways to be exact.
Ridgewood can offer some great views of Manhattan skyline.
Rudy's Bakery & Cafe has been a Ridgewood landmark since 1934.

New independent and long-established eateries
This more recent influx has added to the area’s multicultural and creative enclave vibe but also the emergence of a thriving food and bar scene. While most of Ridgewood’s tree-lined streets are quiet, commercial districts along Myrtle, Forest and Metropolitan avenues have an eclectic offering. Like homeowners, newly established independent businesses benefit from the neighborhood’s relative affordability and Subway links. Most of these small stores and eateries tend to group around stops like Myrtle-Wyckoff. Foodies from throughout the city are drawn to hip haunts like Rolo’s–with its unique take on continental classics. Sundown Bar is a trendy spot popular with young locals. Long-established Decades Pizza, Cholita coffee shop and the Nhà Mình Vietnamese restaurant are some of Wittmann’s favorites. There’s a Key Food grocery and FOOD BAZAAR on either end of St. Nicholas Avenue.
Try the savory Golden Green at Decades Pizza
Supermarkets like Food Bazaar provide great convenience to Ridgwood residents for daily needs.

Well-preserved prewar two and three-family homes
Well-maintained multifamily homes built in the early 1900s are the norm and range from $850,000 to $1.8 million depending on size and condition. These predominantly Renaissance Revival properties–often with Romanesque and Greek Revival details–are joined by a handful of contemporary infills and even a few condos. Two bedroom units in this category hover around the $1 million mark when they come on the market. More residents are homeowners than renters in Ridgewood, which is starkly different to nearby Brooklyn neighborhoods like Bushwick and Williamsburg.
Visit the Ridgewood Historic District for classic row homes.
Smaller side streets of Ridgewood contain single family homes of varying size and style.

Reliable L and M Subway links
The L train gets residents from the Myrtle Wyckoff station to Union Square in 40 minutes. The M Subway reaches midtown from the Forest Avenue stop in just under an hour. Accessed through an onramp in nearby Liberty Park, The Jackie Robinson Parkway provides quick connections to New York’s two main airports, LaGuardia and John F Kennedy, but also other points east.
Ridgewood locals can easily get around the city with L & M trains.

We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I lived in Ridgewood, NY for two years. It was my starter apartment in New York City, and I feel grateful to have found such a great place to live. The neighborhood was very family friendly, full of children playing on the streets especially on hot summer days. There was not a lot of nightlife in Ridgewood, but there were grocery stores and many good restaurants. All in all, it was a pretty decent experience.

I have been living in Ridgewood for 29 years of my life. The area is a great area for people who are in there 20s to 30s and its great for older to have a family. The schools that i attended were decent. The only thing i feel that the schools should work on more is providing proper guidance to teach and educate the students. There are some teachers that are there for a paycheck. Then there are some teachers that really want to see a change in the students and are wiling to try there best to make that happen. There is another problem that i am noticing in my area. Housing cost has rising up more than ever. This old time neighborhood that was once affordable now you cant buy or even rent unless you are making a six figure salary. IT is sad because these small communities are great but they are not pushing out the working class and the poor.

Better than Brooklyn. Quieter (although it's still New York). People plant gardens. Very laidback. You'll recognize your neighbors.
