Quincy is a small rural town in the Columbia Basin. Known for its agricultural roots, Quincy has long been a center for fruit orchards, potato farms and wheat fields. In recent years, the area has also become a hub for data centers, with major technology companies establishing data centers due to the region's access to affordable hydroelectric power. "It's a really fast-growing community," says Realtor Ronna Plourd of Re/Max, who has lived in the area for nearly two decades. "A lot of people come to work in the data centers, but you also have a really nice climate, you're close to a lot of resort areas. It's turning into a real option for remote workers looking to get away from Seattle prices."

New housing developments left and right
Although Quincy was officially incorporated over 100 years ago, the vast majority of the housing market is made up of relatively recent homes. While mid-to-late 20th-century homes are available around town, most of the homes on the market are either under construction or just built. The outskirts of Quincy have larger properties with farmland or open space. Housing prices in Quincy tend to be lower than in nearby Wenatchee and Moses Lake, making it an accessible market for first-time homebuyers and those looking for budget-friendly options in Central Washington. The median price for a single-family home in Quincy is around $480,000. Quincy is served by the Quincy Police Department, but no recent crime statistics are available. The area is relatively sunny throughout most of the year, thanks in large part to the Cascade Range to the east. Average highs get up to the high 80s in August and drop to almost freezing in December and January.

Quincy residents have easy access to tons of hiking, fishing and camping. "Boating is a huge hobby in this area," says Plourd. "Off-roading is also very popular; people take their side-by-sides all over the place." Ancient Lakes, a network of desert canyons and lakes, is a well-known destination for hikers and backpackers located just southwest of town. The Columbia River is also a short drive away, and is popular with both those who want to get in or stay out of the water. Within the city, Lauzier Park has athletic fields and playgrounds, and serves as a central gathering place. The city is also about 15 miles away from The Gorge Amphitheatre and there’s usually an uptick of activity in town whenever there is a concert.
