Grocery stores and restaurants are just down the road
The neighborhood of Georgetown sits on the edge of Racine, placing residents in a quiet suburban enclave not far from shopping and dining amenities. The neighborhood’s southeast corner holds a few small businesses, local restaurants pepper the landscape to the northeast, and a selection of national retail chains sits just northwest of the community. Best Buy, Target and Walmart are just down the road, says Mitchell, owner of the Georgetown-based Show on the Road, a mobile auto detailing company. “And not too far away, there are a couple of locally-owned places.”
Townhomes and ranch-style homes are common
The south end of Georgetown is home to a selection of apartments and townhomes. Single-family home styles range from colonial-style and split-level homes to ranch-style homes. Homes were mostly built between the 1960s and 1980s and commonly range from 1,500 square feet to 2,000. Townhomes sell for around $260,000, while single-family homes sell between $205,000 and $330,000. The median home price is $273,500, up 32% from the previous year.

Interstate 94 is 6 miles away
Georgetown’s residential streets do not have sidewalks, but many are wide enough for walking or street parking. RYDE Racine bus routes 1 and 30 make stops throughout the neighborhood, connecting residents to Racine’s public transportation system. Local drivers can head roughly a mile west to reach South Green Bay Road or 6 miles west to reach Interstate 94. By way of the interstate, downtown Milwaukee is 34 miles from Georgetown.
The pools at Pritchard Park
Across Meachem Road from Georgetown, Reservoir Park holds a green space with a walking path surrounding the park’s reservoir. Just north, across Durand Avenue, Pritchard Park has a football field, a playground and an outdoor aquatic center with pools and water slides. A mile and a half south, Sanders Park offers a playground, a campground and wooded hiking trails.

Ferraro’s Pizza and McAuliffe’s Pub
Mitchell says there are a few grocery store options in the area, and another store is being built to replace part of the nearby Regency Mall. “There’s a Piggly Wiggly to the east and a Pick N’ Save to the west,” Mitchell says. “But I’ll be going to the Woodman’s they’re building, when that’s done.” As for what remains of the Regency Mall, Mitchell says a couple of the mall’s anchor stores remain and surrounding retail chains like Target and Barnes and Noble give locals other places to shop. In the southeast corner of Georgetown, The Echelon Gallery offers a variety of clothes and sneakers without leaving the neighborhood. Ferraro’s Pizza sells pizza and other dinner options, and McAuliffe’s Pub offers live music and cold drinks. For more local restaurants, residents can head northeast to Tino’s Carry Out or Blue Bear. Tino’s serves an eclectic menu combining Greek and American dishes, while Blue Bear offers a laid-back place for brunch.
