A low-key southern Racine neighborhood near several amenities
Tucked away in the southern portion of Racine, Reservoir Park is a quiet, suburban neighborhood that some city residents describe as low-key. “It’s sort of in no man’s land, as no one really bothers anyone over there,” says Kimberly Mann of Real Broker. “If you had an open lawn without a fence in that neighborhood, you probably have a good relationship with your neighbor and would invite them over for a beer.”
Homebuyers in this community enjoy convenient access to its namesake park in the center of the neighborhood and a shopping plaza featuring a Piggly Wiggly for grocery needs. On Durand Avenue, the area’s main thoroughfare, O&H Danish Bakery is a local Racine chain that’s a favorite among residents for highlighting the famed Wisconsin Kringle.
Late 20th century, ranch-style homes throughout the neighborhood
Reservoir Park is defined by its namesake park, surrounded by late 20th-century ranch-style homes, duplexes, and apartments. Most single-family homes feature large front yards and spacious driveways to accommodate multiple vehicles in this car-dependent neighborhood. The median home price in Reservoir Park is approximately $270,000, below the state’s median price for homes. Single-family ranch-style homes typically range from $180,000 to $350,000, while duplexes are generally priced between $200,000 and $300,000. Standing water can be seen in some parts of the neighborhood after heavy rain, but most residents don’t need to be concerned with flooding risks.

Two Racine parks within walking distance
Within the neighborhood is Reservoir Park, a 22-acre park located on the western half of the community. “It’s more of a green space and picnic area. However, we are talking about removing trees around the reservoir pond area to create a nice, walkable path for those living there,” says Ashley Yuenkal, secretary for the City of Racine Parks and Recreation Department. “The pond is also positioned well for those who like to fish.”
Across Durand Avenue is Pritchard Park, a county-owned park four times the size of Reservoir Park. It features a pickleball court, a baseball diamond, jogging trails and the SC Johnson Community Aquatics Center. The center features three swimming pools ranging from 3.5 to 9 feet deep, including Turtle Bay, the shallowest pool with a playground for kids. It offers open swimming and private swimming lessons for city residents.

Shopping mall, supermarkets, and local bakeries on Durand Ave
Reservoir Park residents enjoy amenities within walking distance, including Badger Plaza, home to Piggly Wiggly, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Body360, a local tattoo and body piercing shop. Just north of the shopping plaza is O&H Danish Bakery, a favorite among Racine residents. “If you are a Racine resident, chances are you have been to an O&H at some point in your life,” says Mann. “It’s an adult-level bakery that is not cheap and focuses on strong flavor profiles.”
Locals are also near Regency Mall, which features national chain restaurants such as Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Texas Roadhouse, and Buffalo Wild Wings. The mall is undergoing demolition and renovations to make way for Woodman’s Food Market, a Wisconsin-based supermarket chain, as well as new apartment buildings, retail spaces, and restaurants.

Racine honors its veterans
Racine’s Veterans Memorial is also in Pritchard Park, dedicated in 1993 through the efforts of Racine County residents. Ascension All Saints’ Green Bay Road campus, located 2 miles south, is the nearest acute care medical facility. However, the Ascension All Saints Spring Street campus is the closest providing 24-hour emergency care, 4 miles north. Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport is 25 miles to the north.
