Not the same kind of growth as the east side of Columbus
One of 18 townships in Delaware County, north of Columbus, Radnor maintains its rural characteristics while also experiencing growth and preparing for more. “We’re not going to see the growth like they are in the eastern part of Columbus with the influx of high-tech jobs from Intel,” says Janelle Blue, a Realtor with Cutler Real Estate who has nearly 10 years of experience selling homes in Delaware County. “Those jobs will be at least 45 minutes away.” Intel plans to open two computer chip factories in the northeast suburbs in 2025, providing around 3,000 jobs. The appeal of this area is the slower pace, lower property taxes and good schools.

Sectioning off farmland
While not happening quickly, some rural aspects are disappearing as some farmers are parceling their land into 2 to 5-acre lots for future home development. “It’s still rural and very pastoral, but people are moving here, and there is some new construction,” Blue says. While there are still Cape Cod homes from the 1850s in Radnor, some homes have been built within the past 10 years. But it’s still common to see a farmhouse with a rustic barn and a windmill on the property. Within the tiny community of Radnor, homes are on smaller parcels of land, usually about half an acre. They tend to be on the lower end of the pricing scale at around $200,000, while properties with more than five acres will be priced closer to $600,000.

Buckeye Valley Middle School students can explore their interests by participating in clubs like show choir or student council. The school earns a Niche grade of B. Buckeye Valley High School has a 92% graduation rate and a B grade overall. Before K-12 education begins, parents could opt for preschool, such as the Primrose School at Golf Village in nearby Powell, where children as young as 2 can attend.

Acres of water fun is close by
With a marina, beach, camping area and a disc golf course, Delaware State Park offers a 1,300-acre reservoir, dense woodlands and plenty of nature observing opportunities. Furry members of the family are also included, as there’s a fenced dog park and swim area. Birdwatching is a popular activity as many species of songbirds call the park home. The Radnor Youth Athletic Association has a travel baseball team called the Raptors for kids with the itch to swing a bat.

Public transit is a call away
Public transportation is available in Radnor but operates differently in this rural area. Delaware County Transit is an on-demand ride service where trips can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance. From 6 am to 6 pm, a small bus can come anywhere in the county to take riders anywhere else in the county. That could include a ride to Ohio Health Grady Memorial Hospital in the city of Delaware. A car is needed to get elsewhere around Columbus. It’s 30 miles south to enjoy an Ohio State Buckeye football game or other athletic event. It’s a 45-minute trip to John Glenn Columbus International Airport.
