Renaissance Park is a modern residential community in south Raleigh
Less than 5 miles south of downtown Raleigh, Renaissance Park is a contemporary housing development and idyllic suburb that's seen steady growth since it was established in the late 2000s. “The neighborhood is located just off a major thoroughfare, the Boulevard – downtown is a legit straight shot down the Boulevard,” says Kathy Pitney, a local real estate agent with Keller Williams Elite Realty. The Boulevard, the name locals ascribe to Highway 401, is a primary north-southartery that runs through the city, splitting it in half. In addition to this thoroughfare access, Pitney notes that another appeal of Renaissance Park is the modern lifestyle it offers: “The community is mostly made up of single-family homes and townhouses that were built out between 2007 and 2015,” she says. The neighborhood also attracts residents because of its central location. It is within walking distance of recreational amenities and shopping centers along the Boulevard, which runs parallel to the subdivision’s eastern edge. Between its prime location, access to everyday amenities and assorted 21st-century housing options at relatively affordable prices, Renaissance Park continues to grow and establish a close-knit suburban community less than a 10-minute drive from downtown.

Single-family homes and townhouses with contemporary Craftsman architecture
As residents walk along the winding roads and roundabouts of Renaissance Park, they’ll find rows of uniform lots that feature contemporary Craftsman-style single-family homes and townhouses with tidy lawns. Housing exteriors are made up of a mix of vinyl and red brick siding, accentuated by small covered porches and front-facing gables. Homes are often identified by the architectural collection they belong to; examples include Colonial Collection properties, Charleston builds and Winstar Model houses. Single-family builds can range from $450,000 to $750,000, while townhouses cost between approximately $270,000 and $450,000. Properties here also have concrete driveways and garages that allow for ample parking space; oftentimes, these amenities are located behind the home and accessible via an asphalt-paved alleyway.
Renaissance Park homes are primarily arranged on quiet streets in wooded residential areas.

Recreation in and around Renaissance Park
Behind a stately rotunda bearing the neighborhood’s name, Renaissance Park’s recreation center offers state-of-the-art amenities exclusively for neighborhood residents. Part of the center is a palatial Georgian-style building that houses an indoor fitness center open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Behind the building are several gated outdoor amenities, including a swimming pool, tennis courts and a playground. Immediately north of the neighborhood is the Peach Road Cultural Center, a local recreational facility that offers community programs that cover everything from youth sports camps to beginner musical instrument lessons to sewing classes. Directly west of Renaissance Park is the Raleigh Golf Association, a vast green space with an 18-hole public golf course and a 9-hole private course. The 174-acre Historic Yates Mill County Park is about 3 miles from the neighborhood and is well-known for preserving much of Raleigh’s agricultural history through park exhibits, guided tours and educational programs.

Zoned for the Wake County Public School System
Renaissance Park is zoned for the Wake County Public School System, which receives an overall A rating from Niche. Smith Magnet Elementary serves pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade students and is rated B-plus. Older students can attend the B-rated North Garner Middle School and, later on, Garner Magnet High School, a B-plus-rated institution. While both Smith Magnet Elementary and Garner Magnet High follow traditional school-year calendars with a full summer break, North Garner Middle operates on a year-round calendar. Pitney explains that due to the sheer size of the district and Raleigh’s continually growing population, some schools have had to adopt alternative calendar options in order to accommodate the number of incoming students.
Smith Elementary welcomes students in multiple languages and cultures.

National retail and food chains along Highway 401
Convenience stores, retail chains and grocery stores line the stretch of Highway 401 that runs past Renaissance Park. At Chapanoke Square, people can browse around a Family Dollar and A&C Supermarket before heading across the street to the International Foods supermarket. In addition to chain restaurants like Waffle House, Bojangles and Burger King, this area is also home to mainstay local eateries like Taqueria El Toro, which serves traditional Mexican favorites, including such popular dishes as carnitas burrito and tacos al pastor. “Raleigh is very multicultural, so there are some pretty awesome food options here,” Pitney says. Big box stores, including Walmart Supercenter, Home Depot and Target, are all within a 2-mile radius of Renaissance Park.

10-minute drive to downtown Raleigh
In addition to connecting residents directly to downtown, Highway 401 North also merges with Interstate 40, a major corridor and partial beltway around southern Raleigh. Highway 401 forks into two roads south of the neighborhood: Highway 70 and Fayetteville Road, which both fan out away from the city. Renaissance Park is a primarily car-dependent community; however, GORaleigh’s Route 7 bus line stops on Highway 401 right by the shopping centers. Commuters can also take the Route 7 bus for service to the downtown area. Raleigh-Durham International Airport is a 15-mile drive northwest of the neighborhood, while the nearest emergency medical department is approximately 7 miles away at WakeMed Raleigh Campus, a general hospital.
