Stonehenge East is a section of the Stonehenge community in North Raleigh
Part of the larger Stonehenge subdivision in North Raleigh, Stonehenge East is a residential pocket of homes and condominiums located on the eastern side of Creedmoor Road. “This neighborhood has access to a whole lot of different things,” says Kathy Pitney, a local real estate agent with Keller Williams Elite Realty. She points out that despite being 10 miles north of downtown Raleigh, Stonehenge East is close to shopping malls that offer both chain and locally owned options for restaurants and retail stores. Addittionally, neighborhood social clubs and community events are organized by The Stonehenge Homeowner’s Association, which also puts together the quarterly Stonehenge Living newsletter. Homeowners here are not required to be members of the neighborhood HOA; participation in the group is voluntary. The Stonehenge development was founded in 1977, and homes throughout the subdivision were built from that time through the tail end of the 20th century. Properties in Stonehenge East specifically were mostly constructed during the late 1980s and early 90s. Today, the neighborhood showcases various housing styles and has a well-established atmosphere that attracts residents who appreciate the proximity to Raleigh, the excellent schools and the nearby neighborhood amenities.

Stonehenge East housing options include single-family builds, townhomes and for-rent condo units along the neighborhood's winding roads and tree-lined cul-de-sacs. Single-family residences typically range from about $550,000 to $850,000; architectural styles range from New Traditionals and Colonial-influenced homes to Cape Cods and Craftsman-style cottages. The Cottages of Stonehenge development is composed of townhouses that were built in the mid-1980s and which cost between $250,000 and $300,000. In the Stonehenge Apartments complex, monthly rent ranges from about $1,100 to nearly $1,800, depending on the unit size and layout. The Cottages of Stonehenge and Stonehenge Apartments communities offer resident-only outdoor pools and other amenities like playgrounds and athletic facilities. The Stonehenge East neighborhood also includes Abbotswood at Stonehenge, a 10-acre retirement community with independent and assisted-living services.

Students zoned for Wake County Public School System
Stonehenge East is zoned for the Wake County Public School System, which receives an overall A rating from Niche. Three primary schools serve the neighborhood: Lynn Road Elementary and Lead Mine Elementary, both rated B-plus, and Barton Pond Elementary, a school that opened in August 2022 and receives a 7 out of 10 Great Schools rating. Students in grades six through eight can attend the B-rated Carroll Magnet Middle School, while older students head to Sanderson High School, a B-plus-rated institution. All six schools were operating on traditional school year calendars as of 2025, which isn’t always the case in this district: “The Wake County Public School System can be challenging to navigate, so it’s important to do lots of research prior to moving to a neighborhood here,” Pitney says. “We have several different school calendars, including traditional and year-round calendars, then you’ve got base schools, schools of choice; it’s kind of nuts.”
Sanderson High School is an above average, public school located in Raleigh, NC.
Nearby Barton Pond Elementary School serves children in grades K-5.

Less than a mile north of Stonehenge East is Baileywick Park, a 50-acre outdoor space with sports fields, picnic shelters, playgrounds and a gated dog park. Residents can walk to the park via Baileywick Trail, which begins at the neighborhood's northern border and runs a little over half a mile.
