A century on, Oak Knoll-Redwood Park keeps growing
With one foot in the heart of Redwood City and the other in the Santa Cruz Mountains’ foothills, Oak Knoll-Redwood Park balances downtown bustle with suburban relaxation. Here, streetscapes vary from tree-shaded residential lanes to major shopping thoroughfares. Hundreds of homes built over the course of a century tell the story of a constantly evolving, ever vibrant and persistently in-demand neighborhood.
Various historical housing styles mix along this neighborhood's streets
Oak Knoll-Redwood Park is a mosaic of architectural styles, with its inventory including 1920s ranch-style homes, 1970s condos and New Traditionals built in the 2020s. Condos sell for between $795,000 and $1.2 million, while older ranch-style properties vary from $713,000 to $3.2 million. Homes built since 2015 fill out the upper tier, selling for between $3.5 and 4.5 million. “It’s an interesting area since the first block of Hudson Street consists of homes with lots of about 10,000 square feet, so it gives that secluded, estate feel. Then as you go down the block, each lot gets slightly smaller,” says Realtor John Forsyth James with Compass Realty. Many homes in this neighborhood are a century old, however, they have been given new life through remodeling, which has boosted their value into the multi-millions. Home prices here are above average for the region and state. In fact, according to Forbes, the neighborhood is in one of the 50 most expensive zip codes in the country.
